If the Yuan ends up surpassing the USD in value, and China becomes the new global superpower, what will our future look like?
How will US living conditions compare to what they are today? How about Chinese living conditions?
>>
>>768237993
Chink here. It will probably be better than the US because China is progressing. I mean the technology is already advanced in some way that surpasses the states. http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/business/tech/2017-09/20/content_32252592.htm

>China becomes the new global superpower
Their economy is based completly on the USD, if they do anything wrong we will dimple default on our debt, and they have decades of promises to their people in the fashion of bank notes.
They wont ever become anything but what the USA wants them to become
>>
>>768238227
the problem with China is that the people who rule it don't give a shit about humanity

What about if India became the dominant superpower? What would that be like?
>>
>>768238273

If the US government defaulted on ANY debt it would be catastrophic for the US. It would barely do damage if any at all to China. China holds a lot less than people thing, also imports would stop immediately. I am American but I am not an idiot, this would destroy America and China would continue to reign supreme.
>>
>>768238455
In some way, yeah, but we're adapting. Look, China is not developed like the US. I'll say it's phenomenal how it developed since 69 years ago, just gives us time. You'll see the results
>>
>>768238793
We dont have to actual default, we can claim we default while not effecting our economy and just telling china to fuck off and we are never going to pay them. They can do what they want with exports, we can produce the same shit in the usa, we also have other countries besides china that can prodive for us
>>
Go visit Britain or Holland to see what the 2nd act of a superpower looks like. Quite comfy if you ask me.

I don't think you understand how currencies work.
>>
>>768239135
You don't understand economics, or world politics, or the word default.

To default means simply, and only, one thing. To not make payments on time. If the US does that, politically it would destroy them as other countries could default on the US. Economically, it would take forever to create the manufacturing companies here in America that China has, and it would destroy the atmosphere. Do you want smog?

Additionally, if you do this as a "show of force" no other country will work with the US.

Finally, in the OP's question, China has already become a dominant force meaning the US is in a position of weakness to begin with.

Clearly you don't know the subject in question.

>>768240774
*to the US

There are more than one way for the Yuan to surpass USD. If we had hyperinflation every year Zimbabwe style then the real problem would be the US.

Too many people in this thread assume that issue in that case would side on China.

Additionally, China could simply do a version of a reverse stock split, effectively changing the magnitude of their currency, which would have a null impact in worldwide economics.
>>
>>768240774
...And here it is. China's power is from its cheap exports. This is why they under value their own currency. Most of their "wealth" is a massive real estate investment bubble waiting to pop. The people in power started with an effective long game but got greedy. Now less and less exports are coming from China and they have pissed off all of their neighbors. Their wealth is US debt and bad property.

China won't become a superpower, when they won't have clean drinking water by 2020

There are at least three Chinese bots in this thread.

China holds less than 10% of their annual GDP is US debt. People significantly over estimate the impact US debt has on China.

If the yuan surpassed the dollar then China can't export to America, could still export elsewhere. But the OP asked what would happen if it happened. So yes they could not export to the US, that being said developed economies increasingly become service oriented economies, so exporting would be less important if that day ever came.
>>
>>768241802
They are the next closest country to becoming a super power. With the heavy liberalism in America I could EASILY see them surpassing the US as a super power, currency exchange rates don't impact their ability to be a super power. China has had much more parabolic GDP growth recently, and technologically speaking are on par if not more advanced than the US.
>>
>>768237993
I have been going back and forth between China and America for almost 20 years, and I have had some privileged insight into the Chinese system. Economically, it is a giant Ponzi scheme in which GDP is driven by supermassive and completely unnecessary government works projects funded by loans leveraged off junk collateral. The vast majority of training people still live in abject poverty, and the autocratic system is slowly crushed out freedom and innovation The vast majority of Chinese people still live in abject poverty, and the autocratic system has slowly crushed out freedom and innovation. The corruption in the government has permeated all levels of society, down to children’s behavior in an elementary school classroom. In certain places, like Shanghai, aerial photos look nice and impressive; but on the ground, you see things close up, and it is all shit.

China were free and democratic system with a sound economic basis, then they might indeed reign supreme in the world.

But it is not.
>>
>>768238227
No it won't. Chinese can't have nice things. They want instant gratification and have no sense community support. Everything in China breaks down.
>>
>>768237993
>China becomes the new global superpower, what will our future look like?
More proxy wars in Asia. China will try to push the U.S. out of asia.

That's the near-term, maybe mid-term outlook.

They're still decades away from matching the U.S. in military power. Their military is also completely inexperienced and corrupt. For the time being they will just keep throwing money around and try to buy allies
>>
>>768242477
I am assuming you have never been to China. They are far more technologically advanced than we are. You can literally pay for everything using WeChat pay and there are zero fees and it's free. America STILL hasn't gotten there yet. They also have a significantly more efficient metro system in their major cities.

You are naive and uneducated. Just spend time doing research and you will see the gap between China and US GDP has narrowed 95% literally. US used to have 20x Chinas GDP and now barely has 2X, that is a massive decrease. Also the heavy liberalism is a fine fact.

Lastly, children in China don't snort condoms or eat tide pods, nuff said fuck nuts.
>>
>>768242100
Phone fucked up dictation, but I did not copy/paste. I lived in Shanghai 3 years. You are either lying or cherry picking, but it is corroding and rusted and shitty in all but the most Rodeo Drive type hoods, and that’s only because that is where the corrupt Chinese officials live and shop.

You were probably a tourist and never visited anywhere outside of select districts.

America is exactly the opposite. There are a few select shitty ghetto areas but most of the country enjoys solid infrastructure and a ubiquitously high standard of living (at least where foaming at the mouth leftist aren’t in local control).

Ask yourself this: why are all the rich and well-connected Chinese fleeing with their capital and setting up permanent residency in America?

Huh, shill?
>>
>>768242510
The military spending by both the US and China is purely wasted money. Both countries buy tanks that are almost 100% useless in the current state of technology.

I disagree with you, but since you agree that the lefties are fucking up this country I have to shake your hand.

You are right I am a tourist when I go to China, I also saw the shithole parts of Shanghai, but we have to keep in mind that China as a country is significantly older than America.

I know plenty of rich Chinese who aren't moving at all, just buying land in America to hedge their investments and control a part of the US. China owns so much land in the US it's kind of sad that we allow that.

>>768237993
China only has a six month supply of food. Trust me, we'll be fine. We own them.

The immortal science of Marxism-Leninism has allowed China to develop their economy at an unprecedented rate and lift millions of people out of poverty every year. China has far more agriculture than America. That's why the US government pays farmers on top of the money they profit from their products AND also buys the products that goes unsold.

As long as the OPEC keeps the petro-dollar afloat you'll be ok. You actually owe them your prosperity since Nixon. >>
>>768244522
Yes and no. All communists/socialist countries ended up becoming corporatists (state capitalism, the excuse commies use for "NOT MUH REAL COMMUNISM") because there's no way to keep an actual planned economy afloat. They keep the people under a socialistic policy while the state partners up with the great owners of capital of the country to keep some GDP.

It's the same "third economic position" that the fascists took, but kept under a thin veil so that people don't go "That's exactly what Hitler and Mussolini did".

China had a leg up from the rest because of it's huge population and complete lack of labor laws or actual human rights, and because they avoided most military conflicts that they could avoid.

>>768244693
No problem man.
>>
>>768244787
Did you at all look at the column that says Permanent crops?? China has more than the US.

You are looking at total amount of land that COULD BE used for growing agriculture. That is different than the total amount ACTUALLY USED for agriculture.

It would be a great victory for authoritarianism and corporatism, the two would become even more closely merged as libertarian ideas disappeared from the world. Probably hundreds of years of terrible conditions for 99.9% of human beings followed by a violent, possibly even nuclear revolution.

>>768244693

Socialism isn't when the government does stuff, it's when it tells you what you're going to be doing. It's not socialistic ideas we're against, it's half-baked authoritarian implementations of them where you do everything for the government because inevitably the government can claim it's done everything for you.

I know you disagree but when you're 72 and your kid visits and tells you that he's lost the right to choose his own employer and that anybody who isn't "rational" and lets the government assign them their work and future via standardized intelligence and skills testing is a criminal taking food out of the mouths of others...well, heh. When it gets too authoritarian for even you and you're surrounded by people who disagree you'll know how I feel, I guess.
