If you ask me, I always prefer higher quality over cheaping out so I'm willing to pay a premium. A good headset will last you a long time and will be used a lot, so I think it's worth it. But if not then yeah, Astros and Turtle Beaches are good.

Ah, if you just mean regular headphones then Sennheiser is absolutely the best choice, hands down. The HD 599 and 598 are some of the best headphones ever for $200 and $250, if you can look past the ugly brown and white.

You have no idea how much the 7.1 helped when I used to play CS:GO a lot. I remember starting and being shit, then getting significantly better after about 2 weeks and getting the hang of it from playing the fuck out of Halo, and the surround sound definitely contributed to it. It makes a huge difference.

Try Amnesia. That game is really fun in the dark with the brightness turned down and the sound cranked up with 7.1. I don't really get scared, but man is it nerve-wracking and fun.

It really depends on your price range, they're all pretty good. The Steelseries Apex M750 is their top of the line product at $140, The M150 is good for $50, or if you're not a fan of RGB lighting then the M500 is probably the best you can get for $100, likewise with the M400 at $60. As for Logitech there aren't as many options, really only the K840 but it's very solid for its price at $80.

WD My Book is the best external HDD you can find, I'd suggest at least 2TB which should be ample space. Really any Acer or Asus monitor will do, they're hardly different from each other unless you're planning on shelling out $500 for 1440p or 4K and 144Hz. Steelseries Sensei is one of the best mice ever and only $60, but I'm personally not a huge fan of the new design scheme but that's just me. Blue Yeti is a great choice for mic.
