All the cheaper ones keep the databases. 23 isn't the worst about how it handles the data, but it's still sketch. Ancestry DNA is the worst of the big ones. Then there are the smaller ones. Don't use them. Some just outright publish the info with file numbers instead of names, but it wouldn't be hard at all to track down who is who. That's how they recently caught a serial killer. A relative of his got his DNA done up for one of those websites as part of a church activity.
If you get your DNA tested don't just send it in with a check or credit card with a return address. Go through someone else and John Doe.

It goes through whatever lab your doctor uses. It could be the same lab, doesn't matter. They're pretty detailed. If you ran mine even 23 and me would come our confused. I'm part mountain Jew.
