Is this pc is good for gaming?
>>746001783
Yes
Don't be a lazy fag. Build it yourself and save several hundred dollars.
>>746001810
For real?
Yeah. Should be pretty strong.
Don't let le pc master race find out you're not building your own computer from organic parts grown in the himilayas though

You always pay a little extra for premade, but if you can't be assed setting aside a few hours to set everything up, sure why not.

Depending on how much you already have and can re-use (case, monitor, keyboard) maybe 2 to 3 hundred?
>>746001906
Save some money for a sweatband so you dont drip liquid hamburgers onto the electronic parts
Yes, but you can get the same system built for much less. I'm sure there are companies near you that can build and ship it to you and you'll still save a few $100.

>>746002081
I built one similar with a 512gb ssd for about the same but including the case and keyboard and mouse and stuff. You can edge out your savings here if you already have those things. Otherwise the pre-built isn't a terrible price.
You also want to check what generation the processor is as well as the speed of the RAM.
>>746001783
>buying a prebuilt
Enjoy your housefire-tier motherboard and PSU
>>746001906
You'd save almost nothing.
A 1070 is $400 minimum and a 4.2ghz i7 is going to be another $300. That right there is half the cost already. 16Gb of RAM is around another $130, a good 256Gb SSD another $150 ($250 if you want an M.2), PSU another $80, case another $60-100, motherboard is another $130, CPU cooler $30 minimum for a decent one ($80-90 for a good air cooler), and a 1TB HD is about another $40-50.
These parts will probably be better than the shit they shove into that desktop though. They cheap out on shit like the motherboards, RAM and hard drives to save money and just mark it up.
Guys so is a bad idea buy this computer?

Guys im confused. Should I buy this computer or build by myself

SSD's can go bad. when you have racks of enterprise equipment to deal with, you tend to see the failure rate on things a lot better. Under a hard load, they can fail.
The RAID1 is safeguarding failure for a testing machine. If it dies or one starts going flaky, my livelihood isn't affected. Which is what lets me afford this sort of thing purely for testing.

sounds like a swanky gaming laptop, good enough price for what ur getting but it would be cheaper to build your own desktop with better hardware. i actually really like gaming laptops though, but i dont playing anything too taxing.
i bought my y50 (8gb ram, gtx 860m) for like 1000 dollars. that was like 4 or 5 years ago, still works perfectly and i've never had to do anything do it except a factory reset a few times. pretty outdated now, but i dont play anything more taxing than WoW.
tl;dr: if u have the time, build something better and cheaper. if not, that's a good comp if not kinda pricey. if it's a laptop, the only thing you need to worry about is that shit getting really hot on your lap when you're gaming

I know I'm late to the thread but I bought a Costco PC a while back and it was really good. Phenomenal for the price. It was an i5 7600, 8gb ram, 2tb hard drive, with an nvidia 960 for 450 on sale. Once again, you're poorly informed. That's okay though.
I mentioned earlier that the hard drives are in a ZFS volume. They are whatever I need them to be. Striped, mirrored, or RAIDZ.
The NVMe storage is baseline OS and VM storage, the ZFS volume is generated and mounted to the virtual machines as required for bulk storage.
Also, please NEVER tell someone to use RAID5. Friends don't let friends use RAID5. Current-gen bulk capacities don't work for RAID5 rebuilds properly. You are most likely to just lose everything on a rebuild. Always use RAID6 (RAIDZ2) at a minimum.

>almost all modern games stutter on an i5 as they only have 4 threads
so you bought an overkill processor for no reason, that you get nothing out of, then you make up outright lies to justify your bad purchase. ouch.
just so you know, game performance still relies mostly on strong single threaded performance, fyi.
>>746001873
kek. Good one anon
>>746001783
i7 what?
build a ryzen rig
>>746006029
Higher clocked i5's are better performing for games. Threadcount doesn't really mean dick for singlethreaded programs like games. Clock speed and IPC matters.
>>746006212
the i5 stutter was a separate thing.
>>746006225
heard of frame times? no? ok
(low key bought ryzen btw, got 6 cores and 12 threads for the price of 4 core 4 threads hmm...)
>>746006169
While that's true, I only got introduced to the option after I had already built my gaming computer.
>>746001783
It depends on the model of the i7, there are some that are absolute trash, like the U.
>>746006134
First off, anything using dx12...
>>746006329
true. maybe some people might be more inclined to workshop if they have the equipment available i guess.
>>746005928

core i7 - gtx 1070
Bound to be able to run everything pretty good and fast. If its the very best you can get for the money is another question though - If you work and just want to play some games just buy it.
if you are neet and can afford to spend an entire week researching hardware stuff first - look for online shops where you can get which part cheaper etc - you can probably save 100-200 dollars - but you have to ask yourself if thats really worth several dozen hours of your time
R8 pls
>>746006263
thread count matters if you intend to do anything more then game or doing one thing at a time, why would i get an i7 when i can get a 2 core kabylake celeron? single core is the only thing that matters yeah? lul
>>746006516
shit case
>>746006321
yeah, of course you bought Ryzen. Thinking your frame times were higher on one system because of I5 instead of I7 shows a complete misunderstnading of the entire rendering pipeline but hey whatever be a dumb fuck and buy AMD all you want lol
>MUH THREAD
have fun using them in........? games dont even fucking support hyperthreading LOL
>>746005554
>$130 is 100% price increase of $80
Better ask your math teacher when you go back to school on Monday how to do percentages.
Melissa Wright is a Hoe.
>>746001783
yes, but putting it together yourself might be cheaper
>$1,400 for 16 ram, a 256 ssd and a gtx 1070
TOP FUCKING BUR
Put those exact parts on the Pcpartpicker and I guarantee you can build what it's selling for you for $900.
>>746006567
>implying i only game
nice assumption lul, ryzen literally has better frame times, look at any benchmark, intel fanbois lul

>using the stock cooler for gaming
What a pleb.
>>746006613
>says 150 is a good price
>now it's 130
>next it will be 110
at least you understand now that you're a fucking idiot for suggesting 150 for a ssd budget
That's just a price tag. It will run most games but with low fps. Consider something with ram and a monitor
>my gaming rig, runs everything on ultra high settings looks better than real life and I stream video and record it same time I make commentary and send porn to second monitor while my sister uses my extra processing power to run her candy crush on her tablet better
>>746006657
stock intel cooler is fine. bigger fan isn't making your processor go faster.
people who think the stock intel fan isnt fine dont realize that the stock intel fan looks like an enthusiast fan. back in the days when you actually needed to replace oem fans they were fucking teeny.
>>746006029
Bullshit.
No game really requires more than 4 threads. With and i5 and a decent graphics card you won't experience stutters.
You are better off putting more money on the graphics card or ram rather than to upgrade from a modern i5.
>>746006657
you can't oc an i7 7700. stock cooling is fine if he has a remotely decent cheap case, idiot.
>>746006686
$130 is the price of the Samsung Pro 850 256GB, which is what we were talking about. Do try to keep up with the conversation.

what happened to your 150 figure? did you realize how stupid you were?

It changed when I checked current pricing. Again, keep up with the conversation, retard.
>>746006657
its a fucking walmart computer, do you really think it will have a non ms cooler?
>>746006531
You just used a logical fallacy, which I'll gladly call you out on right now.
I didn't say celeron, I said i5.
The single core the game will be pegging is important. But That doesn't mean the other three are doing nothing. There are three other cores being used for the OS, HAL (IO, netwoking, etc), which allows the game to utilize all available clock cycles on the core it is pegging.
To extend on your usage of a celeron which was nowhere near the argument to begin with, while the game is obliterating the processor, nothing else would get cycles, you would experience bottle-necking and mostly see it present in severe micro-stutters.
>>746006531
>thread count matters if you intend to do anything more then game or doing one thing at a time
Yes and no. because i7 still have only 4 cores and 8 threads. So you only benefit from the additional 4 threads in multithreaded programs, not when you just run separate single threaded programs.
>>746006950
For fucks sake you stupid nigger, we're talking about a PC he can build for the same price, not the Walmart shit in the OP.
>>746006655
This is false.
any modern processor will give you 240 fps with the right graphics card setup, games hardly use any processing power anymore.
>>746006657
Stock works just fine, even for slight overclocking. Falling for the super duper third party fan meme is fucking retarded

>>746006263
Stop. Not only are modern engines capable of threading, they definitely use it. Almost every modern engine separates at least one CPU intensive task to separate thread from the main, you can do this even in Unity. Just because Bethesda is retard and they bundle physics calc to main and lock it, causing retardation when you force higher FPS, doesn't mean that they don't thread.
>>746001783
That's not a pc though. That's a price tag
