Guys, right now, I'm almost done (1-2 more evenings to go) with a story about a war vet with no knowledge about fluffies that finds a pair of fluffies in his garden. Both shitrats, like himself, are abused survivors. Hugbox and mostly sadbox ensues.
I'm thinking about something new.
A guy has two fluffies for professional but low-scale breeding. They, beautiful siblings, live a hugbox life with a little reality creeping in every now and then.
He lives in a place where people tend to dump unwanted fluffies. It's a great spot to observe them and to compare his domestic fluffies, dumped fluffies that adopt to new reality and typical feral herds born and raised on outskirts of an urbanized area. His hugbox continues, but a lot of fluffy on fluffy abuse, and nature on fluffy abuse happens right outside of his window.
Do you think this story line has any potential? It would be mostly "we are the circumstances we live in" trope.

Try to keep the fluffy on fluffy abuse to a minimum though. Everything else from nature and accidents to their own stupidity is already killing them, so their love and mutual co-operation have classically being the sole things helping them survive long enough to end up in other disasters.

the whole idea for the new story is to show the stark contrast between domesticated fluffies that don't know anything but fluff tv and sketti, and ferals that have to do with what they find. however, i'm not really planning on implementing any truly sadboxy-ish elements there. Life for ferals is brutal and unforgiving. Nobody is going to shed a single tear because of that, certainly not my narrator.
My point is to balance this "we hate hellgoblahs" attitude that's been reemerging lately with naturalistic view of the world. Dark and bright sides of fluffies. No torture for torture sake or abuse other than justified pillowing of the breeding dam that lives a life of abundance anyway.
just like in the story posted above, Fluffy Lake, however, my fluffies aren't lobotomized cretins. They are rather victims of their circumstances and slaves to their instincts, like in the lake story.

Again, that sounds absolutely perfect, and I love it when happy domestics are told to just ignore the ferals suffering outside their homes. And the unfairness of other fluffies being treated like loved family members while others just as loveworthy are treated like vermin and worth less than trash.
Fluffies living outside definitely learn that not every human wants to be their new mommy/daddy, and that in most cases begging would in fact leads to getting hurt instead. It's the fluffy on fluffy violence where the line between adaptation and hellgremlinism goes, as at that point the fluffies themselves are the cause of their suffering. At that point it's no longer about perfect pets in a cruel world, it's just small fluffy people. Hellgremlinists used to attempt a compromise about good fluffies growing up in good homes and ferals being assholes, but that's just a way to claim that all fluffies are evil and merely acting well as long as they get what they want. Not to mention that it would make innocent feral abuse impossible.

Impossible to say. I work with genetics and we lack a tool to edit dna on a pratical basis. All ogm done today take a huge effort to insert a handfull of genes. But if we could edit dna like we edit html code it could be done pretty fast. And all major companies (monsanto pioneer and others) are investing a boatload of money on this. Focusing on corn and soybeans yelds of course.

I've been thinking about how close we would be to making toy fluffies with robotics. Something like a fluffy Aibo, with its main AI running on an external hardware to save space could be pretty nice and would most likely interest even the non-fluffy fans.

As thsy continue to pack the snow they ignore their smarty who is in a panic at this point trying desperatly to break off the frozen shitspike in his ass. The other fluffies notice he is gone and babble amongst themselves. They come to the conclusion that he has gone in search of food.
They continue to build their industrious little village.
As they do small tufts of their fluff come out in just the right ways as to decorate the houses in a christmasy way.
The grinxh ended and my wife now stood next to me watching the fuzzy little freaks.

The village was now mostly complete. Lots of little snow hutts dotted the patch of yard near the back door. They had even built a wall around it. In the center was a big hut and all the fluffies piled into it i guess to sleep in a fluffpile for warmth.
They soon were all in and a glistening began in the walls and celing of theirbhut as the snow began to turn to ice. It becametranslucent
more now fell and it held up the new snow was just enough to make their fluffville look like whoville.
A wild christmas idea appeard in my head.
I hit the pantry got 4 cans of chef boyardee and warmed it up in 4 ceramic bowls. I got it nice and boiling hot.
Then i carefully silently ooened the back door.
Big mistake smarty was still alive. So i stepped on him and got a satisfying crunch as he screed his last and died.
I then took thebbows and put them in the empty houses.
Went back inside and got a strand of led christmas lights and strung them around the village (they were not waterproof)
