About 40% of the recruits in my barracks are in that particular branch of service because they have psychological problems. The rest have actual physical problems like knee and spine problems, skin conditions and the like.
The recruits themselves are not meant to know this - We figured it out ourselves. They are very coy (no pun intended) about hiding this fact.
There are posters strewn throughout the barracks. "Don't apply a permanent solution to a temporary problem - Help is just a call away!" on the corridors. In every toilet and shower cubicle there are posters showing contact info for counsellors.
They never mention "suicide" or "psychological" - Yet it's so obvious that I'm stuck in a prison of fellow crazies.
All it takes is one guy to off himself and the rest may very well just follow.
