Okay, so the feasibility of that matched with the large moral lines it would be overstepping may be your biggest crux. Genetics typically works through generations, so other than cosmetics or some forms of strange hormone therapy, I'm not quite sure you have something to peruse. As far as creating chimeras, that is a ethical nightmare that will destroy your business even before it starts. We live in a world where people are so against human cloning that most countries outright ban the practice. To take that and then add the immoral proposal of creating semi-human life that may suffer greatly will probably get you in even more trouble. While I think some of us have the dream of being a furry or having furry characteristics, it won't work like that.

also there isn't currently any federal regulation against human genetic engineering - most of the research is just focused on curing genetic diseases rather than giving people floof
I honestly don't think the genetic engineering approach to making furs is viable though - would take a loooot of human test subjects to work out the kinks....

Anything outside of cosmetics and some forms of hormone therapy will most likely land you in whatever prison of whatever country you try to do it in. If you're going to do CRISPR work to try an reprogram DNA strands, you're going to have a massive issue getting the cells be accepted by the host. And again, the entirety of the scientific community would be against you. I can promise you that.

Unfortunately, Genetics therapies takes a lot of time and funding to make any form of breakthroughs. Right now, we can't even fully come up with successful therapies to reprogram cancer cells. I'm not sure where exactly you would be getting your money. Also, as I think you mentioned before, posturing yourself as a non-profit is not going to work lol. If you want to offer a service like that to the furry community, I can see a small niche for hormone therapy for those who want to have more hair growth and potentially more gradual features. Outright genetic research takes A LOT. I would suggest reading up on the NIH's website and wikipeding a lot about this. As far as furry androids Sun, once they get life like enough, you may not even know it was a machine minus the fact that it's a furry currently fucking you.

Why would human test subjects be required to perform research of this nature? An increasingly significant portion of pharmaceutical research is being performed using digital analogues, both for the sake of cost, and to circumvent ethical dilemmas identical to the ones you describe.

I assume people would generally want more of their starting point in their ending genetics , probably also better for variation/preventing incest-like problems. That said I'm assuming you'd produce a template for the modification that you'd apply to whatever they started as (plus other changes they might ask for). One goal for income would be to break every action into a separate billable action.
