melee's better than smash 4 because it has mechanics that fulfill and then exceed the minimum standards of its genre. Smash 4 does not fulfill those standards, let alone exceed them. The original super mario bros. would not have been acceptable without momentum conservation. That alone makes smash 4 worthless. Mechanical integrity is more important than anything else in the game. The neutering of other mechanics (mostly that apply to grounded movement) between melee and brawl/smash 4 is icing on the garbage cake.
