Welp it finally happened to me boys. Mother fucking Sleep Paralysis.

>Was sleeping face down on my bed.
>Comfy as hell with my face coming out the side of the pillow so i can breathe.
>Try to wake up
>Can't wake up
>Wakemeupinside.jpg
>Holy fuck am i trying to move
>cant
>All i can do is feel my right leg's muscles twitching, like i'm really trying to move here.
>Next thing i know, i feel a face right the fuck next to mine.
>Couldn't muster the strength to open my eyes for some reason.
>It's breathing right on top of my face/nose.
>still cant move
>can feel its nostril's air on my face again
>thisisit.jpg
>Hear a female say "Can he move?" Right next to my face.
>I finally move my leg and wake up entirely, shooting up from my bed looking around me for anyone.
>I'm alone.

Jesus christ i don't like this feeling, i really hope it doesn't happen to me again.
New to this so im not sure if i posted this is the right board.

I think it was. My aunt had the same experience and we brushed it off thinking she was having nightmares only to later find out that her apartment was Haunted and many people left it because of the female ghost scaring them and doing weird shit like turning on the TV or throwing dishes around the house. Whenever I used to visit her, I used to felt a presence there and used to shit my pants. Glad she left that shitty apartment.

>>707304286
yeah, thats the shit that woke me up too.
>>
>>707303369
yeah nigger
i had sleep paralysis as a kid and can explain if yu want to know why this happens
Basically you wake up during your REM sleep cycle stage, rapid/random eye movement, basically the period of your sleep cycle where you dream and during this your body locks to stop you from flailing and injuring yourself during the dream or nightmare etc.
BUT during this sleep paralysis you wake up at this point and your body is still locked because your body thinks you're still dreaming and to some extent you are as your b ody hasnt fully woken up yet.
Then you fully wake up and regain control again.
>When I had sleep paralysis I couldnt breath until i forced myself up but i didnt get any nightmare type shit.

>>
>>707303369

That's not sleep paralysis...that was an attempted possession from a demon. You really need to listen to this guy>>707304554
It's the only way.
>>
1st time I had sleep paralysis: woke up, couldn't move, chest felt like it was being pushed into my bed

2nd time: woke up, couldn't move, saw shadows

3rd time: woke up, couldn't move, saw shadows, heard a voice say "let me out" right in my fucking ear

It just progressively got worse

Every time I try to elbow my wife and wake her up to help me but I'm completely stuck. I can't talk either. I just close my eyes until it passes

The feeling that my chest is being pushed into my mattress is fucking horrible. Like somebody is sitting on me.
>>
>>707303369
Is the Old Hag now coming with female company, or why the female voice?
>>
Does anyone know of a easy way i can experience sleep paralysis? I always wanted to try it.
>>
I've had sleep paralysis half a dozen times so I'm kind of used to it now and know that anything weird that happens isn't real. Still, here's what happened the most recent time
>be me
>wake up in the early morning on the right side of my body
>can't move
>know I'm having sleep paralysis
>its still really dark but I can tell the sun will rise soon
>can see my mum walking around past my door frame and in the living room
>she's opening blinds and talking to me but i can't understand what's she's saying
>I try and tell myself its not real but I'm still struggling to move to see if she's actually there
>suddenly see and old, long withered hand reach into my room
>decide that that's fucking enough and manage to move my hand and 'wake up'
>immediately check the living room
>blinds are still closed
>mum is still asleep
>fuck sleep paralysis
Have another one if you want to read it

I've had sleep paralysis many times. I've done a lot of research on it but I can't find any information on why I hallucinate and hear voices. I didn't hallucinate at first so when it finally happened I didn't want to go back to sleep. A dark shadow was screaming at me. Anybody have any links to explain why this happens?
>>
Most of these stories are just nightmares. Real paralysis is when you are awake and can't move. I had it once. I was resting at my grandma's house and suddenly there was huge "BURRRRRRRRRR" noise in my ear and I couldn't move.
>>
Thinking about it, I had it several times in my life, just not sure if this was classical sleep paralysis.. I kinda woke up, but still was in my dreams I believe.. wanting to open my eyes, but I couldnt.. also felt like screaming in my "dream", but I coudlnt bring out one sound.. it troubled me a bit while I had that, and sometimes kept me busy thinking about it through the day.. but I didn't think this could be actual sleep paralysis.

Can't remember to have had the feeling of a heavy chest, like the Hag.

I read about it before tho, there are "symptoms" which can favor this occurence, stress etc
>>
Next time you get it, focus on moving one of your pinkies. As much as you can. Use all of your concentration on moving that one pinky, and when you can, make your way up your fingers to the thumb. By that point your body should be unparalyzed.
Haven't had sleep paralysis, sounds like absolute shit.
>>
>>707306018
The second most recent time I woke up in the middle of the night, lying on my back with the blanket right up to my neck and my right hand on my chest. I couldn't move and I never feel comfortable when something is touching my neck so I kinds freaked out this time. I tried to calm myself and move my hand but couldn't do it. Then I felt something jump up onto the bed, walk over my chest and lay down on my neck.
I was pretty sure I just hallucinated the weight and my brain was trying to explain the blanket at my neck as some other external source. I tried to move my hand to touch it and find out what it was but I couldn't. Apparently the only thing I could move was my tongue so I literally stuck out my tongue and licked my blanket to make sure it wasn't anything else. Then I managed to flinch my hand and wake up fully.

I struggle with sleep paralysis on occasion. It scares the shit out of me every time, feels like I can't breathe. Obviously can't move, best I manage is a fucked up groaning sound til the missus wakes me up

Oh, and there is actually a scientific reason, forgot the exact phrasing: but has to do with partially still being asleep, although your brain partially is and your body wants to wake up too.. so the brain is sending signals to the body to wake up, which are only semi successive in this state.. but finally you wake up.

Same happens when you go to sleep and you feel your body twitches.. the brain is "asking" the body if you're still awake and will do so with sending twitches.. if this wakes you up, you're not "ready" yet for sleep and dream.
..again, only in my own words

>his hand is in air, he's looking straight forward
>I can't move, I close my eyes and "dream"

>notice sun is up behind eyelids
>"nothing bad happens in daylight!"

>mfw he's right in front of me

happens to me sometimes, only recently though did I find out it was sleep paralysis. I assumed it was no different than an normal nightmare until I explained it to my friend while returning from California.
she was like YO thats sleep paralysis.
basically I will be in my bed, or standing somewhere, or pretty much anything. then I will feel this sudden urge to look one way or another. maybe urge isnt the right word.
You know when you come into the middle of the dream, it's like that. and I try my fuckin hardest to look over there man. and I know I will not like what I find when I do look.
There is a deep sense of dread, like something EVIL is over there. and I spend the night struggling to run from this... whatever.

first time

-open eyes, but unable to move
-too dark, to see anything but my imagination manages to cook up some bullshit anyway
-scared shitless
-hear breathing next to me
-still unable to move
-breathing gets louder the more i panic (obviously my own breathing haha)
-wake up, look around, google is my friend

next time i had sleep paralysis, i began breathing harder on purpose in hope of waking myself like last time. worked.

you still have control over your breathing. try it.

science can explain away the 'paralysis' bit

but science can't explain the demon lurking in the doorway

why do we all share the same hallucinations?

that's the question that keeps me awake until the sun comes us

what if they aren't hallucinations at all?

what if these things are real?

When I'm awake for 24+ hrs, when I try to go to sleep I "hallucinate" sounds and voices. Sometimes it's indistinct music, faintly crying babies, or whispering conversations. Other times its loud banging, explosions, or gunshots.

The first time it happened it was the voice of a woman whispering a single word:
>pizza

>>707303369
Science has identified the chemical that turns off voluntary muscle movement when you sleep. Your body does this to prevent you from flailing around while you dream.

When you wake and experience sleep paralysis, it's nothing more than your body not quickly removing the chemical inhibiting voluntary muscle control.

Much the trauma people experience is related to the very foreign inability to perform any voluntary action at all. Such as controlled breathing- many who experience sleep paralysis imagine that they are suffocating because they can't force themselves to draw breath.

You're also in a mental state that causes the imagination to run wild.

I've experience sleep paralysis hundreds and hundreds of times in my life. A weekly occurrence, and at times it was even daily. My first episode of sleep paralysis I was 10 years of age. Some things I've noted

1. Relaxing and focusing on your thoughts rather than the external will make the panic and hallucinations go away quickly
2. Least stressful way out of it is to simply go back to sleep and wake up again
3. Fastest way out of it, for me, is to imagine someone else waking me up
4. Some dogs seem to be able to sense when I'm in sleep paralysis. I was overjoyed when the family dog came over in the middle of the night during an episode, studied me with his nose as dogs do, then gave me good licks on my face and let me "wake" quickly. Dogs are magical.

I've had sleep paralysis 3 times. Each time fucking sucked.

My first time I was taking a nap after school. I was laying face down on my bed. I could hear my mom and sister cooking in the kitchen. For some reason I felt a "presence" standing next to my bed. I couldn't move and I couldn't open my eyes. It was like I could "feel" it's shape. It was a dark tall shadowy figure. It reached out to me and as soon as it put its hand on my back it shocked me and I felt like my body started floating off the bed. Like an out of body experience! I felt myself floating above my bed. I couldn't open my eyes still but I could feel the popcorn ceiling with my hands. It lasted about 10 secs then I free falled back into my bed and woke up...

>from that time onwards I had about 2-3 SPs a week, finally waking up after having tried to shout for felt hours.
> Ofc i told my parents and they told me it's just a bad dream and not to worry about it.
>The experience itself was always kinda similar, sometimes it was a Hooded large guy, all in black - sometimes i could see signs of a skeleton
>see signs of a skeleton. For a few episodes it was just watching, later it had a large knife with it, repedeately stabbing me into my chest until i woke up, sometimes it just looked like a small shadowy imp, sitting on my chest and watching me with it's huge grim smile.

those experiences persisted untill i was about 12-14 years old. I still sometimes had episodes, but just about one time every few months

>I later thought - yea... my childhood was wonderful - a lovely family, lot's of travels, lot's of fun -- maybe this was the way of my psych to teach me about fear / about dying
so much for my earlier experiences.
>Until I was 18 I hardly had any episode - maybe 15 during the 4 years. Then it started again.

No but I'll greentext just because
>be me, age around 6
>on a cruise ship that I remember sucked
>sleep on a bunkbed with my brother sleeping across the room
>suddenly wake up in the middle of the night
>lying on my back, can't fucking move
>room is dark but slightly lit up by the moon shining through the window
>on the edgw of my eye I see a very dark shadowy man thing with a hat standing slightly behind a locker right across the room
>he's just standing there back to the wall facing the opposite wall
>feel terrible, gutwrenching dread
>want to scream but I can't
>suddenly wake up
>room looks exactly like in the dream but without any shadow man
>he looked exactly like this, other people have reported seeing this character not even fucking kidding or trolling
>to this day I just remembered it as an absolutely terrifying nightmare. it was just now I realized it was sleep paralysis
>>
Dunno if my experience was sleep paralysis or what...
>be me 13/14 yrs
>wake in middle of night can't move
>bedroom and bed shaking violently for what was probably around 20 secs but felt like forever
>regain ability to move and notice big bro who I shared a room with still sleeping
>run to window looking for post apocalyptic mayhem in streets
>streets dark and very normal
>family and friends think I'm a weirdo

36 now and still remember it vividly

>this can't be happening, scared shitless and close eyes
>feel someothing on arm, regreeting life i open my eyes for her face close to mine and the breath of rancid beef

was looking into lucid dreaming alot before, read a couple of times now that lucid dreaming can fuck up your normal sleep over the time? that you cant, or only have a very difficult time to find back to a normal, unconscience sleep? people actually said they wished they never started it, for the sake of a "normal"?
ideas?

>It was around the time when I started to experiment with psychedelics, maybe that let the Demon come back
>They still weren't occuring regularly, but after some time I found out that i could influence if they come often or not.. like inducing the SP by myself
> I.e. laying on the back & not moving quite often resulted in SP, but those methods are to be discussed at another point in time
>Something though - has changed...
>the room wasn't falling to puzzles and the shadow wasn't stabbing me anymore
>it was just watching... watching and grinning
>for me - I knew this demon for like nearly my entire life
>I felt kinda connected to it
>That was about the time when I came to the conclusion that i need to change sthg for myself.
>I took it as my top priority to get into that state and NOT fear the entity anymore.
>Instead i tried to see it as a buddy, my dreamguide
>In a sense I tried to "not to try to wake up", but to stay in that state for as long as possible and to trie to communicate with it.
>Not with my vocals but just with thoughts

...and that's when it got kinda freaky..

He's not the one posting the greentext, that's me
and it's not made up, but think whatever u wish fgt, seems like u never had SP in ur life, so if u don't care leafe the threat
>>
>>707308692
Na, its not like you can start it everytime. You have to practice to achieve it, but its more of "grabbing" the opportunity when you have it than being consciously able to control everytime.
>>
>>707303369
Just hold your breath, it's basically the only thing u can control, and your body notices the pattern being different so it wakes you up.

Source: I experimented a lot with Lucid dreams and the like, have a sleep paralysis many times lol. You kinda get used to it, I think it's kinda fun now tho. Anyways; don't like it? stop breathing.

I was thinking same. Just some kid, lying to fit in.
>>
I've only ever had it twice, the first time I thought I was having a heartattack and didn't even give a fuck tbh, had no problem going right back to sleep after waking from it.

The second time I heard someone come in my room and then I felt someone grabbing my dick but it wasn't even sexual feeling, I felt incredibly uneasy and I guess it was basically the equivalent of being molested by my own fucking mind.

>a big tunnel of light emerged in front of me, and.. i dunno.. I got kinda sucked into it

>But I knew I was dreaming (well there were little shadows running out of my room which made it obvious)

if you want to force sleep paralysis, try taking like 600mg caffeine before you go to sleep.
took 600mg guarana/caffeine pills while evening workout and had sleep paralysis at like 2 am. had the illusion my mother in the same house had a stroke and i couldnt move. intense af

Holy fuck, are you me???
1st time asleep have like thin cloth over face I can a shadow getting closer and feel some kind of presence
Second time asleep face down on bed hear something like a little girl humming then feel like hand or something press down on my back, little girl starts laughing it gets progressively deeper to the point where I jumped up and realized I was alone
hour later fall asleep sitting up same deep voice us back and using my mouth to talk I'm freaking the fuck out thunking I'm possed I realized I wasn't yelling or talking just mumbling in my sleep slowly wake up
>>
Yeah that shit is scary. Had it happen to me once, open my eyes can't move see what appears to be a torso(and only a torso) in the top corner of my dark bedroom. Is it weird i wish it'd happen again?
>>
>>707309494
yea, lucid dreaming is fun. But For a good nights rest I like to let my dreams choose what's happening. Lucid dreaming is way to exhausting for me..dunno.. i.e. I can't walk, since i get the feeling that I'll also walk in reality.. So i'm stuck with stupid floating all the time kek

1st time i freaked the fuck out. shadow standing over me and i couldn't move or yell.

3rd time was able to move but the shadow could as well. the more i moved the more scared the shadow got.
weird as fuck but i think the ghost is scared of my progress

>>
>>707307480
I feel the more sleep deprived you are tue more you can see shadow people
>>
Ive had sleep paralysis for the past 20 years of my life. Its increasingly gotten worse. For a while I took comfort that the horrible things I would see and hear were caused by panicing and my imagination running wild. This comfort was shattered when my most horrifying experience started before I realized I couldn't move, so the theory of the panic makes the nightmare was dead to me. Ive never slept without the lights on after that. You dont see things in the light, I still get paralyzed but the demons or hallucinations cant show themselves in the light.
>>
>>707309619
oh yes, this, totally
lots of caffeine is very much a cause to this
>>
>>707307624
This.

Instant overcome with dread feeling, cold.
>>
>>707310634
>>707310832
so tl:dr, sleep deprivation, lots of caffeine and stress if you want to try out sleep paralysis
>>
Now imagine having this at least 3 nights a week and you have my fantastic life.
>>
>>707305786
Basically lie in a comfortable position and relax your breathing like you do when you sleep at night, lie perfectly still and let each muscle relax.
Your body should relax and go numb after 5-10 minutes if you maintain it.

Basically what you're doing is shutting off sensory input from your body and you start to focus more on your thoughts and other senses like what you can hear.

A lot of what people experience with sleep paralysis is just manifestations of their mind and peoples anxiety can represent itself in many ways in peoples thoughts some influenced by religion
>>
>>707303369
>had wisdom teeth removed
>all four at once so i was really fucked up for a week
>I woke up once in the middle of the day
>no able to move and on my back looking sideways.
>saw weird crawling/shambling figures coming closer to me from across the room.
>can only describe them as slow creeping snorks from S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
>cant move and trying so hard to get up.
>finally jump up and ran into my hall screaming about how im going to die.
>brother runs out of room and calms me the fuck down.

never taken pain meds ever again after that.
>>
>>707307316
Humans are hardwired to fear the unknown, its neccesary in our genes to make us always be alert for predators.
When you see a spider for the first time you don't have an encyclopedic knowledge of the different dangerous spiders out there, you just instinctively recoil because the knowledge of dangerous predators etc is in our genes.
Danger comes in many forms whether it be lions, hornets nest, scorpions or other people who rape pillage and murder.
Our fears and anxieties take many shapes and forms and many of which can be influenced by religion

I remember the first time it happened to me. I was a kid and was napping on the couch. I woke up and couldn't move, or even open my mouth to breathe. (I have trouble breathing through my nose) I was freaking out because I hadn't heard of it before
>>
Had this happen once
Wake up too the convincing feeling of something pressing it's Hands in the bed in front of me
Open eyes see nothing don't eve second think about it back to sleep.
Instantly after I close my eyes feel bed move again
Wtf now worried tried moving can't
Still see nothing close eyes and concentrate on moving feel pressure again open eyes see hand slide underneath bed
Holy fuck bogeyman real and coming for me
Close eyes one more time to try consentrating
Hear a fucking alien cackle in my ear and bed pressure right behind me
That's it I'm fucking dead
Finally can move shoot out of my fucking bed go sleep with sister for rest of the night
>>
Wtf. I actually enjoy getting sleep paralysis. I can usually begin lucid dreaming because of it. I think most of you are becoming afraid of it and scaring yourselves.
>>
You all want to know a sure fired way of waking up from SP?...just wiggle your god damn toes. Concentrate only on wiggling your toes and you'll wake up instantly. I can feel when I have an episode coming on...tingling body, dodgy noises...and wiggle my toes to stop it before the terror arrives lol

On another note, if you are lucid dreaming and want to stay in the dream, if you feel like you are about to wake, in your dream hold your arms out and spin around. This stops you from waking for some reason. It can also 'drop' you into another, deeper layed of dream, kinda like Inception. One night I was lucid dreaming and done the spinny thing and dropped into another dream scenario. I thought wow! and done it a couple of more times before shit got too deep and I ended up in what was some kind of Hell scenario...I started to hear the funny sleep paralysis noise and felt frightened as fuck so I just wiggled my toes and woke up.

Hope this helps. Just dont to what I done and spin yourself into dream Hell lol

I know this sounds dumb but both these techniques work for me 100%.

I've tried them a few times. I tend to lucid dream quite alot due to me working an odd shift pattern with fucked up sleep patterns.

I've had sp randomly and i was wanted to induce sp whenever i can because the first time i did it i felt that dread that look that evil and i freaked out forced myself to wake up and ever since then whenever i sp i don't freak out as much as the last time one time i actually felt anger not fear i felt a presence that same evil feeling and i legit 4thought that was it for me it was going to come for me so instead of fear i felt angry i stuggled to wake up telling myself im not going out not like this and i woke up

I find i get this when I go on drug binges.

I had started vaping and was generally one of those twats that thought it was cool to make those huge clouds.
Anyhow I had also been on a 3 day speed binge to get a few papers written because lazy fucks like me leave everything till the last minute.
I managed to fall asleep but thought I had woken up in the morning, I could see but I couldn't move my eyes, the room started filling with vape, coming out my face, from under the door and from other directions in the room.
I thought I was going to die, tried to scream but couldn't make any noise.

I could finally twitch my toe after about 2 minutes thinking I was going to die and that spread through my whole body, I blinked and all the vape was gone.

Fuck me though never touched that shit speed again and stopped sucking flavoured metal dick.
