If it's a starter weapon it is probably garbage. Buy some weapon blueprints from the marketplace that look cool or interest you. BUT check the materials required to build. Some items like Orokin Cells, Control Modules, and Argon Crystals can't be obtained until after Saturn. And it will take a minute to do the junctions to get past Saturn and into The Void.
I'd suggest trying to get an Orthos and start working on your Mastery Rank.
The Soma is a decent rifle, and the Hek is a decent shotgun.
Spend your starting plat on Warframe Slots and then Weapon Slots.
Learn the tile sets, join a syndicate, and read what your mods do.

Tile sets are your "maps." They are randomly generated, but the actual rooms are pre-set. Learn the tile set rooms and your mobility will increase.
Starting secondaries? Lex. It sucks but early game it has decent puncture, which is what you want against armored enemies like the Grineer and a few Corpus enemies.
Currently I am using Despair, which is a kunai dropped by the Stalker. You can get Stalker marks by defeating bosses in Assassination missions, but be careful. The Stalker is no push over.

Alright, cool. Nothing wrong with the others, but Excalibur, in my opinion, is better for newer players.
All-around good Warframe. He has a passive that he is faster and stronger with Sword weapons, and has a very OP move called Radial Blind. Anything within LOS is instantly blinded and are opened up to finishers.
Also his 4 is effected by your weapon mods, so he can reach end game damage even as a starter frame.
