I didn't say that. I was more commenting on the relative number of permutations pies can take when compared to cakes. Cakes have a few categories that largely follow the same basic foundation. Pies have a very simple definition that allows them to take many forms.
A lot of ice cream cake for example, isn't even cake! There sometimes won't even be a single ounce of bread. Lava cakes are some weird concoction, that's basically cheating if you want to consider them cake.
