I'm pretty sure they wouldn't be given a normal trait as sentient beings, since their place in the food chain would be man-made therefore spoiling and making normal life a lot harder, think about it if anthros keep their half feral instincts wouldn't it cause problems around normal humans ? moreover, given their nature, wouldn't they become dominant species if we let them roam around freely whilst they multiply faster than a rabbit ?. I think it'd be a fatal blow to humankind as a whole, people would flip their shit over them, some other would join in their protection causing massive rabbles and triggering civil wars to defend or take a way the rights of a sentient half human-half animal. I think of the problem in an odd way. I think of anthros, if available to the public, would come in generations. The first gen of publicly available anthros would need to have safeguards, and very specific instructions when it comes to how to raise, and care for them. I can imagine a lot of Gen 1 issues rising up in certain "predator" breeds, and that shock collars would be necessary to reign them in. The Second and Third gens would hopefully make them more mentally stable, and possibly have them be more "domestic", in a sense. I think if they couldn't be culled, then large predator anthros would either become unavailable completely, or be very limited until problems could be solved, or at worst they would be bred on black markets.
In a better scenario than what I think would happen they would be treated very poorly, and made to go to segregated schools, with specially hired teachers that where taught how to train them to behave, and learn. They would take many years to become part of society properly, but would probably always have a social stigma to those raising them.
What I figure would happen would be that, but long before that they would essentially be slaves. People would buy, and probably forcefully breed rare combinations, or anthros for certain traits. Most anthros that weren't dangerous would be scared of their owners at first, through what would be normal punishments of whipping and shock collars. Later official gens of anthros would still happen, but most anthros you buy would be from illegal dealers, or private sells or litters made to order.

Private companies would jump on hiring them when they first could, and a large amount of dangerous, or very demeaning hands on work would be delegated to them. Essentially, imagine the old slave trade of post independence america, but mostly internal. Slavery would rise up, sweat shops would exist in america in large numbers, and I think another civil war would happen. I also think that anthros would segregate based on their bred traits, and how "unique" they are.
In the following years, questionable companies would also probably start selling all kinds of products especially for your "personal companions", furry porn would skyrocket, and specially bred morphs, possibly with dangerously bred (from a medical standpoint) ways of reaching those morphs would become a thing as well.
TL;DR: Slavery 2.0, now with even more questionable ethics, and more customization options.

As the illegal market raises I think about clandestine research facilities making their foundation as well. If we talk about the neon shit fest that most anthros are, then asides of being segregated by most people, they would also become potential targets for clandestine research and what not, like experimenting human diseases on these new genetically-engineered cute house animals since they share our genome for instance, thus generating a schism between radicalists and anthros' rights defenders. You wouldn't not think that big corporations wouldn't support this either in order to get where they want without sacrificing human lives but man-animals. I think that this situation would last little util two of these scenarios happened, one where we realize we can't coexist with this strain of modified genome and anthros are forced to be erradicated and other where they overthrow us and become dominant species given their superior cognitive instincts. Needless to say that both would totally suck for us in any way or other

I don't see a major uprising happening like you say it. I imagine that anthros would still be pretty expensive, pet or no. Meaning that people would need to be decently well off to buy them. As well, they would need to reach large numbers to overthrow us. I can imagine a lot of countries not allowing anthros after a few incidents, or even banning them from the start.
I mean, I could certainty see everything going up in flames, but I don't think that anthros would go away. Stubborn rich people with massive private islands and etc. would fund personal research, or at the least fund their own personal collections of companions.
