The point I was trying to make is that building a car from the ground up is tedious and will be very costly if you arent doing it yourself. Easiest thing to do would be to take a chassis you like and modify it as you see fit. A great starter chassis would be something like a Nissan 240sx, Mazda miata, etc..
I used to have a 240sx with a skyline gtst motor swap. I did all sorts of suspension work and stuff to the body. Came out pretty nice and overall was a fun car. Would be much easier to do something like that if you are looking for a custom build.
