The point here is that there is untapped (see: wasted) potential.
I could be getting 500/250 or more when I am getting only 210/165.
And the only way to get that ~100% speed increase is by fucking buying quality cat6 cabling, which I don't feel like wasting money on.
In the same way that I could probably squeeze an extra 150 MHz out of my GTX 580 if I weren't so afraid of hitting high temps. I could mod a CPU liquid cooler onto it for $35 but that's not something that I feel like wasting money on.
That, and I'm probably bottlenecked by PCIe 2.0 x1 interface already any way.
As it stands I normally have the 580 running at a voltage of 1050 which is a 25mV undervolt from factory voltage and a coreclk of 810 which is a +13 offset from the factory clock of 797, which is itself an offset of +25 from the reference spec of 772.
Memory speed is 2100 which is a +75 offset from the factory speed of 2025.
I have verified stability at 888/2250 at factory voltage but I don't use that because it gets to 90C in Furmark.
