I watched this the whole way through, and it's not a movie everyone would enjoy, nor is it god tier, it's one of those "artsy" movies, and in fact is based off of a book, and it does the book poorly, explains nothing, and there's very little dialogue, in fact if it didn't have scarlett in it I would not have watched it for 10 minutes, not god tier at all, but definitely something for people looking for WEIRD AS FUCK movies

It derails completely and uses science elemnts as "wowz muh SCIENCE!!1" as long as it serves a lackluster cliche-filled "love is all" plot that comes out of nowhere, when the father-daughter relationship was not treated properly at the start and was completely forced by the end.
It's like they were trying for a decent sci-fi film and halfway through Nolan said "hey, wait guys, this is actually about love and how it trascends all dimensions, so let's just finish filming it now".

If you currently read/have read sci-fi novels/short stories you'll see that any movie falls extremely short from any literature, so I personally recommend reading, since no sci-fi movie is god tier.
With that said, Primer is good and very short, ewhich is great since you'll start understanding the second or third time watching it.
I personally love Gravity, but it's as far from traditional sci-fi plots as can be, or even "plots" as a whole kek.
For god-tier science fiction, I'd honestly suggest /lit

what about elephant man. haven't seen it myself but have only heard good things.
Well it depends what you want in a film - if profundity, depth and acting are what you go for I'd suggest films like the Green Mile, Children of Men, Godfather 1/2/3, Calvary etc.
If you want a film for purely entertainment value, things like Avatar, Pulp Fiction, Die Hard, Mad Max, Me, Myself and Irene etc. come to mind.
There's loads more - these are just a few examples off the top of my head.

Compared to what? Most other films from that year had abysmal stories by comparison.
> full of holes
Like which? Seriously, I'm curious. I constantly hear people gripe about the movie being shit because it's "full of plot holes", but I've yet to hear of any legitimate ones that can't be explained by what's present in the movie. So please, share with the class.

He is right. At all!

Actually nasa worked very closely with the team to make sure interstellar was accurate.
I also studies physics and can guarantee it was almost all accurate.
What parts do you find improbable?
Worst part of interstellar is how the dad completely disregarded his son.
>>692297707
seriously mixed feelings about this. it was shit and good but mostly shit with a bit of good.
>>692297607
I agree with annon and would also like an explanation. Eager for response.

Pick one, dipshit.

I mean, it's not even like the film is faultless. I have my fair share of criticisms with certain parts of the plot.
But, the vast majority of the "plotholes" I hear about are not holes at all as most are explained or at least hinted at in the film.

As a biochem major, I am actually excited to take physics not for biochemical applications (or lack there of) but to see how accurate this movie is myself.

That movie was bad.

Most people who complain them have no clue about gravitational fields or soace-time continuums or the 11-dimensions hypothesis. These arent even very advanced topics. Learned these in mid-level university physics.
jim jarmusch anyone ?
>>692298355
Fuck so Physics I and II aren't even gonna cover them. Will they? I go to a pretty decent university. Great science programs.

Theyll probably introduce them.
Once you have the basics you can just buy the next textbook and read it. Theres no need to go into the depths of tedious problem solving to understand the principle.
>>692298957
I won't lie.... probably too lazy to go out and do that. Will just ask professor to explain the theories one day. I'm often able to get professors to sit down and teach me higher level course material out of class when I want to know more.

Yeah thats smart way too.
Neil degrass Tyson goes through most of interstellar. I remember seeing it on YouTube.
>>692299118
That movie was awful, yet captured the essence of the anime brilliantly. I have always been conflicted on how to feel about it.
