The music is fantastic.
The film is OK. It lacks objectivity since Sean Penn is known to be subjective about "Alexander Supertramp". He paints with the ideological brush, rather than the 'stupidity of his pragmatism' brush.
The soundtrack, yes - definitely adds to the film though. Eddie Vedder is absolutely amazing in the soundtrack.
