I never tried to make a point about an extreme age gap. A 40 year old with a minor? Why not 30? Still just as illegal. Anything 18+ with an under 18 is illegal (with some exceptions of 16 years of age depending on the state).
And a person can change drastically from age 16 to 18... or just as easily change very little. Everyone is going to be different in that regard.
I'm not even trying to argue against lowering the age or removing any laws to protect youth from sexual predators. My argument is that the age of consent, in terms of what makes a person a pedo for an attraction to certain ages, to some extent can be subjective given a certain cultures approach to the subject.
