This probably isn't great advice since its super short-term focused, but the best way to see results in weight loss is to focus on dieting only. Although working out in general builds a super healthy routine and can open doors later on for whatever bodytype you wanna go for, if ur fat now, you should definitely be focusing on eating less. Like a lot less. I'm talking 1000-1200 calories a day. I'd only recommend this if you think you're mature enough to not binge yourself all the way back when you do reach your goal weight. In general, something I see a lot of fatties do is go to the gym and honestly have a pretty acceptable work out. BUT ITS LITERALLY NOTHING compared to what they're already eating and what they think they're allowed to eat because they "worked out". Generally, the calories you burn by being alive are a lot easier to utilize in cutting by eating less than working out. Most people will say work out as well, cuz its generally great for you and a good thing to incorporate into your life. But if all you care about is shedding the pounds, eat less. Being hungry is normal, if you want to lose weight fast enough to stay motivated that is. If you're not a man-child, you can work out and go for smaller deficits. Although the loss might be slower, it'll probably last longer if not indefinetly. Plus if you ever do want to lift seriously, you're already ok with having to go out of your way to work out.

Just cut out sugar, excessive carbs, fried food, and make at least 90% of your liquid intake water (and make sure you're you drink your recommended daily amount) and NEVER soft drinks. This with any amount of physical activity will net results in a matter of a couple of weeks.

Dude its all about calories. You have something like 2600-2700 calories day to maintain current weight. So to lose something like 2 pounds a week, which is pretty fast tbh. You'd only need to cut to something like 1700 cals. a day. Does that seem doable to you? Macros are really overrated at you weight. At 290 all that really matters are cals in, cals out. I would recommend avoiding carbs and sugars, but if that means more calories in general (probably wont) I'd say stick to eating whatever the fuck you want so long as its under 1700 a day.

It's hard I know. But honestly no need to rush it. You have time to lose the weight, and you'll honestly feel like a new person once you do. No need to push a bit harder, as long as your not plateauing.
>>
>>680308022
there are a lots of approaches, but for me two things showed most results.
First find out what time of "digestion" you have. Either you are the meat type, which means you should eat protein, meat in combination with fat, but no carbohydrates.
or type carbohydrates, where you try to avoid the combination with animal protein.
Step two is to get active. Not too much, but keep a pace. Do something you can enjoy, be it riding a bike, playing badminton or whatever. Stay with it. It`s easy once the success starts
>>
>>680308237
I just had a calorie deficit. Didn't count, I just stopped eating fried stuff and began eating real meat (steaks etc), baked fries etc. Also for muscle retention I use protein shakes (for breakfast). And I stopped snacking :P
I also work out with my dad...

I was losing 11 pounds a month.
Eating healthier but still having oversized portions and drinking 12 beers, a bottle of wine and 4 or 5 Gins every second or third Saturday.
It was because I was doing 45 minutes + of intense cardio 5 days a week.
>>
>>680308440
Honestly, I'd say 100 is a lot, even for your height. Ofc I don't know what your build is and how much lean mass you have going on, but I'd still say 100 kg is a bit high. You'd be surprised how low your base weight (12-15 percent bodyfat) is. I'd get that checked out at a clinic. Some trainers can also help you with that too.

How much do you think cutting my soda consumption will help? I stopped drinking regular coca cola and changed to pepsi max (drink about 1 liter a day). Yes I know it's stereotypical fat american to change from regular to diet soda, but I'm addicted to it so it's quite hard to stop. I might stop though if I'm motivated knowing I will actually lose some noticable weight from stopping.

Ive always felt really fucking insecure about my body... Just a couple of months ago i wouldnt remove my shirt even if my life depended on it :P
Then a gf happened, which gave me some motivation... You know... After hours of netflix, chill might come around eventually ;)
The only thing i did before i started to see results were to not eat more than i need to, i have a really bad habit of eating way more than i need to, id always eat until i felt like i was dying afterwards. The other thing that i did was started to lift, not a bunch, im a pretty skinny guy. But i started small and just take myself all out 3 times a week.
Wow, i sound like a fucking commercial-dude. Sorry about that, but what im trying to tell you is that just small changes can make for pretty solid results.

those fake sugar drinks make it worse. They will trick your mind in thinking sweet drinks are healthy and you will feel the need for sugar much stronger. also giing you cancer ... real cancer, not like the /b/ cancer u sometimes get
>>
>>680308142
learn to love dark chocolate, more than 80%
it's the sugar in chocolate that is bad
there is also chocolates sweetened with stevia
you can practically eat as much as you want of that stuff

also cook yourself, lots of fresh food, lots of veggies, not so much fruit (they are sugar too), and cut the carbon: no pasta, no pizza, no potatoes...

you can make like 1 day a week where you make yourself a special meal

the most important thing is that you have to make your changes in your diet PERMANENT
if you lose weight fast, the fat cells will just shrink and as soon as you eat excess calories, they will fill up again like a balloon.
then you have more weight than before.

180cm ~65kg btw

The thing is a killer workout of 1-1.5 timespan will max out at 500 cals burnt. So assuming you didnt even eat more, which you did, you'd have burnt about 15000 calories month, which is only 4 pounds. Say these estimates are off by 100 PERCENT ERROR, you'd still be losing less than 11 pounds. The affect of working out on metabolism and the general public's understanding of metabolism as a whole is very, very inaccurate. This also assumes a 7 day workout week.

It's actually quite a bit. Thats something like 450 calories day gone. In like 8 days, assuming you don't eat more than you usually do, that's like a pound. In a year, if u do nothing else but not drink normal coke, assuming you always did, you'd lose something like 40-50 pounds.

TL;DR tips, as requested:
1. Read the sticky in /fit/
2. Learn your required calories for your heght. There are many apps/websites to help you with this. I personally use the MyFitnessPal App on Android.
3. Learn to estimate portions (ounce, tsp, etc)
4. Learn to estimate calories of food
5. Learn to be mindful of your calories. You can use the said app for auditing what you eat.
6. Do not crash diet. It stresses the organs. Observe a maximum weightloss rate of 2 lbs per week.
7. If you are lazy to count calories, just fast 2 days every week. You can eat whatever the fuck you want during non-fast days if you do this.
8. Maximum weightloss happens during times of fasting. For a normal person, that is during sleep. Practice good sleeping habits and maximize the time between dinner and before breakfast.
9. During fasting, your body will breakdown fat and muscle. We want the fats only to be gone. To preserve muscle, consider drinking cassein protein powder during fasting times.

If still interested, I can give you the links I was talking about.

>>
>>680310303
Dude, what'd I tell you. Exercise is such a noob trap for overweight people. You'll just need to learn to not care about food as much. And not eat when you're bored.
>>
>>680310461
How does this look for what? Dieting? It's fine if you're gonna do the high protein, low carb thing, but in your normal routine you just need a fuck ton of fruits, vegetables, and fiber. Don't build your food around the meat. Also, as a general rule, keep straigh 80% of the time, and cheat a bit every 20%. That'll keep cravings down.
>>
>>680310412
Your inspiration will last a week, if that.
do it for yourself.
remember the fail point you had and then next time you run try pass it, even by 3 feet.
repeat it every day beating your fail points, eventually you'll be a mile from where you once stopped and you can be proud of achievement.

p.s don't run for weightloss i.e checking scales constantly, run for your performance, you'll see results and the results will keep you going, weightloss results vary but performance is consistently increasing.

diet is #1 anyway.

>>680310461

>>
>>680310758
Yeah, I agree on the not checking scales thing. Weight is affected by water intake as well, so if you check every day, essentially all you're checking is how much water you've gained or lost in the last twenty four hour period. I check about every three plus weeks.

i started exercise yesterday and i plan to get skinny so i can become a trap...
i used to be skinny but i gained a lot of weight in the past year (30kg, im now 100kg)
>>
>>680310903
That's true, but you can burn it a lot easier than say sugar from soda. An apple as a snack isn't bad and just eating vegetables might not get you all the natural sugar you need to get through the day, especially if you have problems with tiring easily.
>>
>>680310936
Thank you.
I hope you have a good day.
>>
>>680310939
Well its good to hear that i am on the good track...
>>
>>680310968
fuck all that shit, it's the sugar content in that, that's what will get you.

sodium intake isn't a big deal, a lot of broscience around that, obviously don't want to eat a lb of sodium, but be concerned about sugar more.

>>680311022
once a week is alright just to check in yourself and adjust diet etc, if you go up in weight on a particular week, recheck your diet and think of any snacking you did, but don't get hung up about the scales, you're focusing on a lifestyle change here, not temporary weight loss.
>>
>>680310608
What? I feel like a lot of people dont understand that most people on average shouldn't weigh more than 180 pounds.
>>
>>680310910
You need to diet and exercise TOGETHER. One CAN work without the other, but it probably won't and not quick. In your exercise include nth cardio and muscle training, both reduce body fat.

I have a handy app my dietician reccomended me. It's a Dutch app called Eetmeter, basicly you enter your food intake during the day and it counts calories and provides with information about fe the amount of salt your eating. It also shows if its to much or to low

Also, for those of you who are cutting back on calories, watch what the calories are coming from and DO NOT consume less than about 600-800. If you do, your body thinks you are starving and will not let you burn fat.

Well, it's more of a long term thing, so don't feel discouraged if you don't lose 25lbs the first week. Just stay focused on eating REAL food, and avoid the sugary, pre made shit packed with fillers and sucrose. Eating lots of fish and salad will work good too. Obviously it will be bland and boring at first, but you have to condition your self to like that food, even if it doesn't taste as good as fast food, or pre made boxed shit. Godspeed OP.

Do keto

It'll take you a week to adjust and you'll feel like shit but once you adjust you're going to feel great and as long as you're eating less than your maintenance calories for the day you'll lose weight.

If you want to make it even easier do intermittent fasting and give yourself a 5 hour window to eat every day. It's pretty fucking hard to eat more than 2000 calories in one sitting if you're not eating carbs and sugar.

Drink lots of water, eat 15g of carbs or less.

Once you adjust you'll never be hungry, have shit tons of energy, and sleep like a real human being again.

Artificial sweeteners are bad because
1. Some literature still suspect them of being carcinogens (mixed conclusions ATM)

1. BMI (rough estimate)
2. Online calculators using your body dimensions (semi-simple)
3. Online pictures (simple)
