Well NGE being the slightly weird and unconventional of Anno and his depression, as it were, does have it's flaws. For a start there is no character progression, there are a lot of inconsistencies in the series. But I do love it nonetheless, I like the way the story unfolds and the way the characters interact. I don't particularly enjoy the fact that Anno basically gave birth to a whole new anime trope with Rei, but I respect her as a character.
