I don't understand why Amerifags don't want guns banned? We don't have them here in England and there are no mass shootings.
In the early 90's in Australia right after the Port Arthur massacre guns were banned and there hasn't been a mass shooting since.
I constantly see arguments that redneck Americans put forward about wanting guns to protect themselves against those sorts of people that do the mass shootings.

As an Australian, I feel there wasn't enough of an established gun culture at the time of the buyback after Port Arthur to allow a large black market to develop. The same cannot be said for the current state of the USA.
I do agree with the concept of having access to guns making it more likely to result in their use, similarly, restricting access would have stopped at the very least a handful of shootings, where the killer would have otherwise been unable to access a gun.

They're talking about home invaders and people that want to rob them, which happens a lot in america depending on where you live.
Two other reasons are that they help ensure the people have a way to fight back in case the government oversteps its bounds. Sounds silly, I know, but historically, that's a very common thing, and revolutions are a lot easier when you're armed.
The other is that people like to hunt with good guns. People also like to collect guns for posterity.
Whether or not you agree with those reasons doesn't really matter. When a country ignores its own constitution, the complete decline of the state is soon to follow. It works in england because you people have always been a monarchy and you've always been forced to accept rules from your overlords, just or not. Taking off my sarcasm hat for a moment...do you guys know how many guns there are in the US? Hundreds of millions and that's just the registered ones. Of course implementing a ban would reduce that number but the people who want to commit mass shootings will find a way to do so. But you're right, eventually the number might dwindle to a point where it isn't as common as it is now.
