So I just took the ASVAB (Military aptitude test) and I scored in the 96th percentile. This means I can have any MOS (military job) that I want.
Here's my problem though...
I'm 20 and I'm living with my parents. i just did a year in pharmacy school and got like a 2.5 GPA because I didn't study enough. When I showed my parents the ASVAB score they literally said "You're a disappointment".
I am genuinely worried that after I finish training and come back that they might kick me out of the house. I'm not their "dream child" because I don't spend all my time studying like a chink and actually have a social life...
Should I go military active duty instead of just regular reserve national guard so I have enough money for rent or should I risk it and just hope they dont boot me?

I was faced with this choice once. I went to basic in 1993, and I had a perfect ASVAB score. My advice to you is to look for the MOS with longest training. I was in a job that took more than a year for training (counts as duty time) and got a 20k signing bonus (big money back in '93. I think half the bonus was when I finished schooling and maybe the other half at end of contract? Been awhile.

You will probably not learn anything, and you've got a good enough score that you can get some really good jobs in the other branches.
If you're 20 and you already sound like you don't like living with your parents, why don't you go active? You get a good foot in the door for starting your own life and some valuable experience as well as the option to stay in if you really like it.
Military life isn't perfect, but neither is the "real world".

I recently got out of the reserves after 13 years and the one thing I regret the most is not going active duty first. Luckily I spend enough time over seas to get 100% post 911, but without an active war, the chances of u getting enough time under ur belt to cover school is very slim.
I suggest u go active for at least 2 years, after that u can go reserves if u want. this way u will also get the discipline u need. One of the main reasons I got out is because I got tired of dealing with little faggets who thought they were hot shit for being in the reserves but didn't have the discipline to back it up.

Look at what your job or rate or MOS is worth in the civilian side. The last thing you want is a bad ass cool job that has no useful skills beyond the military. Find out what kind of bonuses you get. Enlistment hazard duty pay etc. It adds up.
And most importantly find out the expected manning and projected promotion rate for the future. But for the love of god if they can't give you what you want, leave. This is your last chance to play hard ball with them. Once you have your name on the line they own you and they give you the job you signed for.

My advice to you is to follow through with the military, who gives fuck all about what your parents say?
