I'm an looking for ideas for a new phone app to make.
If you have an idea for an app which either hasn't been done or hasn't been done well, post in this thread with your steam name, the game you want, and the app idea.
To be eligible for a steam game, the below criteria must be met:
1) App does not exist, or was implemented very badly
2) Ideally provide as much info as possible, eg: "An app that makes your life easier" does not count
3) Must be phyiscally possible & legal
4) Must be possible to monetize it. General go to: various non intrusive ads, but 1$ option to remove all ads
I'm looking for an idea that blows me away today, I had a huge response yesterday - gave away 4 games.
Unfortunately 3 of these ideas I later found already existed.. so I will be doing more research before the games are gifted.

i have been thinking of designing an app that will allow you increase very specific increments of audio and music, for example if you want to boost the drums or the bass, or lower them both and get the singer and the guitar, or one or the other. this is possible because due tot eh way audio waves synchronize, individual strands can be isolated and altered. as a onus option, it could also add very light phone vibration fro things like bass, or a certain depth of drum note. hope you think this is a cool one it would have adds when open, but they can be removed for charge. also, you can monetize virtually any part of it saying that certain "features" are only available in a "pro" version or format.

An app that provides alarm for that thingy called 'hyper sleep' or 'power naps'. Basicly you take severel short naps, and one longer. All in all you sleep less than what is recommended, but you're more rested than if you slept 8 hours straight.
So the app makes a schedule, where you can alter it in personal needs.
This would be a good app for student who has work on the side, so they get more time, while being more rested.

Didn't know you couldn't change the alarms of iPhones to music, androids can do it so I kind of assumed droids could too. I'll look into this as well.
I think you should make an app that is for cities. Sounds really fucking stupid but I think if implemented, it could seriously help someone. I'm not totally sure if this exists but hear me out
In terms of cities theres a lot of problems for people who are visiting for a short time or just for a little and it's pretty hard for people to find subways, train times, or even a good detailed map of a city (google maps is kinda like it but I mean something that actually has street names, can be used as a gps and has store names) The app should have a fully easy to use hud that can have tabs that you open up and can easily be accessed. (this would probably be most useful in NY or other LARGE cities). For the first tab you could have every taxi company in the area and reviews or even links to the company websites. Second tab could be a map of the city, featuring a full zoom out and in, showing general traffic, bus routes, train routes, train times, etc. Next tab could be just a general news tab of the city that shows daily news like traffic jams, crashes, etc. Just general news of the city and anything someone else would need to know. Even for extra tabs you could have weather, best spots to eat, celebrity sightings? That's my idea

You literally put in where you are, where you want to go, and it will map a path including public transport. Unfortunately best case scenario for making an app like this would result in google buying you out, but it's more likely they'd just steal the ideas and force you out of business.

I think an app like this would help employers find those who need jobs, and It would be far easier to arrange interviews with potential employers. especially if the app has an integrated messaging system.

how about an app that turns your pet into a dragon? you take a picture of it and it takes the picture and superimposes it onto a dragon body, or just takes the face of your pet and puts it on a dragon body, or you can add dragon wings and a dragon tail and make it look like it's breathing fire to your pet
everyone loves dragons and making cats and dogs into dragons, i'm sure. at least moms will love the idea. there are a lot of moms and grandmas out there that love this kind of stuff.

An app that plays a random national anthem every day instead of an annoying alarm.
Price finder:
This's an app that looks at prices from local food locations, either fast food or regular grocery stories. This app can use the prices found on the actual food stories site and save them (needs to have an automatic system that can update prices posted on the sites, while it'll also need a system to find the websites of the online grocery stores nearby). With the saved prices of each product the user can search it and the app can bring up the best prices with their distances from the user. This app is the perfect app for neets or people trying to save a buck on groceries.

If so, I don't believe that would work, alternatively effectively zooming everything, text for example would be the only way around this.
I started making an app ,didn't work out to well.
It was called Yodeler FM.
Basically like the app Yik Yak, but with radio. So a 1 mile radius~ radio station the runs off of youtube and a vote system. When people upvote your song you get more power, enought people downvote it you lose power and song gets skipped.

How about an app that allows the user to input an emotion, and the app will go through a giant library and play songs that can be linked to that emotion. Say you're at the gym and you could input the words "Pumped up" and it will play high intensity stuff. Or youre about to get it on and type in "sexy" and it plays some marvin gaye or some shit. That sort of thing. And you can take out certain genres like Metal if you just dont like it but still want high intensity music. Maybe theres an integrated like/unlike system that lets you doctor what songs are played in the future. Similar to Spotify or any other music app, but it's far easier to decide how you feel rather than what music station you'd like to listen to.

And does a price comparison with other stores within a determinable radius along with ratings and product reviews.
Another idea is an app that tells you how much alcohol content is in a drink. Type in whatever alcoholic beverage it is you're drinking and it'll give its best estimate on how much percentage of alcohol is in it. You can even type in your body weight and it will give you an estimate of how long you have to wait until you sober up based on how much you drank.

So i thought about a game! Yes i know its kind of different but there is a big market of that. So the game would be puzzle game in which the objective is to get every block from one color to another, then when you have all the colors matched you move the certain colors in a certain direction. How do you move them around? I was thinking you could tap on the ones you would like to move then tilt your device to move them or something. Then you complete the level. And maybe you could have like tournaments to see how fast you can complete a level. Maybe you could call it Color Tilt or something lol.

Don't know if it's illegal or not due to contract property stipulations, but here it is.
Called, Stream Finder:
It's a notification app that you can connect to your phone or laptop. This app to notify you when a specific stream is going on a specific site (you'd have to register the site on the phone, and create a system that can tell when the webpage is streaming or not). People would generally use this to overcome things like subscriptions for twitch or any other site that uses payed subscription systems. However i dont know if this would validate any third party contacts on specific sites.

Lets do this shit. Now this app is a little strange but please bare with me. You ever get asked by your girlfriend or sister or any female in your life if their stockings are the same color? I grew up with 3 sisters so I know it gets annoying being asked for your input on if something is blue or black.
Well this app could possible use the phones camera in order to tell if 2 pictures are the same color. The app could be used by people getting dressed, painters, people looking for matching carpet, etc. Maybe it could be called MatchMaker or something along those lines.
The way it would work is you could input 2 pictures with similar lighting, one on the left and one on the right. then they would both be scanned and the app would pull up a report saying weather or not the pictures are the same color.
Weird, I know, but I think something like that could turn a decent profit.

Okay another idea, so lets say a band just formed and they need help getting people to listen to their content, you could create an app that listed new bands and when they would play areas such as pubs or small venues. This is easier then my fiest idea because smaller bands would be more on board getting their name out.

How about an app that will tell you wait times for rollercoaster rides, like at DisneyLand you could link your phone to their Wi-Fi network (if possible), and the be able to see a live stream of the line, be able to order a fastpass from your phone, or set an alarm inside the app for when you want to get in line.

How about a game where it track's your location and everytime you go a certain place, it gives you points almost like for incentive for exercising, the game could be based off exercising and everytime you go somewhere or reach a point in the location tracker it gives you points to buy items in the mobile game. The game could be based off exercising or anything else, or you could just have an avatar that needs to get buff to fight in a boxing ring, and the more you go places in real life the more points you rack up via the tracking. Simple, intuitive and fun? and you could also give them another incentive you can buy packages to become more buff but it costs like $5,000 most people willing to become healthy often times aren't made of enough money to pay for something like that.

Got another idea.
This Idea is one that appeals to parents.
Hand held nurse:
It's an app that can be put on tablets, phones, or desktops with interactive learning activities for children. Organized with a level system that increasingly gets harder until the problem is solved. HOWEVER the there can be a enormous amount of activities for children, and the level system can be random levels organized by a algorithm (you'll have to make it). If children can't solve the problem they can reset the level system and start over again. While an insentive for kids to play this game is a kind of upgrade system. As children complete their set levels they get gold coins or whatever (in game currency that can be bought or won). With this currency they can unlock more levels, harder challenges, or use them to have tips for each problem.
This app is amazing for making money since all parents will try and educate their children like the pretentious ass holes they are. While the children will be interested in the problems, and might buy in game currency.
Concerning the problems it could be organized into different age groups as well as problems that are more oriented for that age group, or specific category of education. Ex: Naming shapes for math, for 2 year olds. Or math problems with 4 year olds, and spelling questions for 5 year olds.

Here's some ideas.
One is a game that's kinda like astro party, ap, but not really. you fly around and shoot things like with the same controls as ap, but in this game, it is one player and free roam. just flying around in a never ending space. you can find bosses that give you special items if you beat them. and there will sometimes be golden asteroids with tons of coins. there would also be dungeons that take you to a new map with monsters and a boss at the end. you equip your ship with upgrades that are purchased and items that are found. when ever you die, you lose a lot of your coins. You can fight with friends locally using the ship you built, and you can also co-op through blue tooth.

an app that automatically looks up the colouration of a picture and checks if any pictures on google have the same colour orientation. Or by looking at the word orientation in the picture from a different setting (i dont know what you'd name it, but for now call it word search) and see if there is anything relevant. Ex: you take a picture of a page on a book, set the app on word search and the app analysis anything with a specific pattern for a specific langue, it'll see anything online related to the book and show information from online sites. An example for a picture could be something like a picture of the weather and the colour of the clouds could be consistent with rain clouds on google confirming what the weather is going to be like.
You'd have to make a system to convert it all and that'd be difficult, but I'd think people would like it.
This app sounds really difficult to implement, but it'd be something people could find as a practical tool in searching things they encounter.

Budgeting app
Users can easily manage their money like a virtual checkbook. When ever they get a paycheck they can enter that amount to their balance.
When ever they make a purchase they simply enter into the app and can tag or categorize it to get charts for different categories of expenditures.
Goal Budgeting - This part makes the app a bit more unique. Users can set a goal for something they want to save for. Say a new video game. So they set a goal to save $60. When ever they save some money they add those savings to the app and it tracks till they reach that goal. For example if a user always gets a 5$ starbucks coffee, skipping it could add $5 to their micro budget balance. Another great example is packing a lunch for work instead of paying $10+ for one.

Drinking is a huge thing. Your market will exist because just about everyone drinks. The one question that usually comes to my mind and I've heard other people sometimes ask this too is how much alcohol is in your drink. I know most beers don't list out the alcohol percentage. Some bars would note it on their menus but it's not in every bar. Sometimes people are just curious and may want to look it up but have an app that can scour data from the internet to get that information.
Then there are hard liquors and mixed drinks you order from the bar. Sometimes people will order drinks based on a recommendation by a bartender like, "You should order a fuzzy navel." Not everyone will know what it is or how much alcohol is in it. If you open up the app, you can see what goes into a fuzzy navel and get the average/estimated alcohol content. The bartender can list the ingredients but if you used it at home, you can use it as a recipe to mix it yourself. You can have something similar with beer. Beer connoisseurs or lovers may want to know what kind of beer it is (hoppy? toasted? chocolate?).
The final feature would be an estimate time it would take for your body to process the alcohol. Of course, it would have to be an estimate because everyone's body works differently, but if you plug in your weight and the drink, it'll give an estimate on how long it would take to process out of your body/when you're sober.
Basically
