How can I make my video game better?
I've been working on this thing for three years and here is the first demo video. Let me know what I can do to make this the most awesome thing ever.

The maps are too gaudy and there is an overabundance of simple primitive shapes that would be cool if it had more consistency, but ends up being an obvious example of your laziness as a developer.

Some aspects are cartoony, and low res. Some are not. For example your character is portrayed as having a real human body underneath the armor, yet your in this surrealistic realm full of virtual imagery and odd shapes.

You need to pick a consistent theme... either go fully for the low res low poly look, or make it all believably real looking. Or if you do want to incorporate both sides, do it in a way that looks intentional, and purposeful.

The particle effects are laughable. So are some of the animations.

I'm not gonna do your project for you. The animations don't have fluid transitions and believable motion. Watch pro animations and compare with your game... if you can't tell any difference you simply don't have an eye for animation and you need to find someone that does and get him/her involved.

If this is the result of three years' work, then there's probably only two things you can do to make this a good game: hire a team who is good at development or get good at development. This demo is the kind of thing someone makes in a month, not a full-fledged game.

All honesty, if you're going to make it low res, like some of the shapes are, find a better color scheme for the maps and make everything low res, but if you want it to be high res, find a better color scheme and make everything high res.

I'd play this, looks good. The lack of color and HUD could use some work though, and some of the characters' animations aren't quite right. which is one of the reasons why I dislike unity

Looks like one of those games that were made in 7 days, unpolished for so years of work... Will the textures, quality animations and complete recoding of the game be a DLC? I would say quit game development and focus on something else, you just don't have the skill required to finish.

Oh, and also I feel you simply need to add a more robust pool of animations to call upon. I don't know your code, but it feels like most animations are being chosen with too few arguments being passed in, thus you're getting a lot of recycled stuff.

For example, strafe running breaks forward running animation from shoulders up for sure. I'd go ahead and make a separate animation just for strafe running.

But hey man, this is better than any shit I could crank out. Well done, if that means anything from an anon.

Agreed with above and to add. A lot of the levels are too big smaller levels won't look as empty and barren.

A clean aesthetic is doable but vary things up so it isn't boring (see mirrors edge).

also, agree with the anon that said you need to make the levels smaller/more dense. go play some Quake 3 or unreal tourney, and really try and get a feel for how big those levels are.

Animations and also the map like other people stated. I would also say you need to revisit the UI.

It may take a considerable amount of tweaks to get the UI acceptable, but that's just how UI development is.
I would almost never show decimal points in any UI element either.

Once you get a better layout of the UI, I would invest time into getting a font style that meshes well with the graphics in your game. Then I would work on some UI graphics to make it feel a bit more immersive.

As for the gameplay, I honestly don't know since I haven't played, but it seems like your networking is pretty solid (for your current audience).

Nice job so far, just need to iron out a few things and polish everything off.

Oh also, your "ramps" that allow you to run on walls might want to be more abundant than they are just for playability.

I'd play around with the ratio between just a wall and floor touching and a ramp.

I also agree that the map sizes could be smaller. Potentially less open so you get more interesting encounters around corners, jumping up over fences/boxes.
If you allow jumping in the game then create more in-game mechanics associated with it.
I love jumping, but what I might hate more than not being able to jump is the ability to jump and nothing to jump up/on/over.

Don't just add functionality willy-nilly (not saying you have been, just a design concept). If you add functionality think about all its uses and how important you want it to be.
