Anyone here earn more than $100,000/year?
what do you do? how'd you do it? do you advise others to do the same?
>>
>>768212793
There are probably a lot of folks, it's very common. I'm a programmer.
>>
>>768212793
I make about $150k/year in tech sales at Microsoft.

Varies by year, depending on stock grants.
>>
>>768212793
Right @ 100k, 30y/o.

My take home is a little less than it would be if I worked a corporate job tho, I have a small business so I have to pay 100% of my own insurance.

My advice, get a valuable education. Thats a much easier way.

If you are a college drop out like me, I would advise you to find a job in a small business, learn everything thing about it, save your money and start your own version of that business..

I made about 100k last year in my second year of business with the potential to make a lot more.

Def not easy, and somewhat risky. Easier route is education.
>>
>>768212793
$120k/year
IT manager...
Basically, I hold my companies management hostage as they have no clue about tech...
>>
>>768212793
I made just under 150k last year.

Dredgermen
>>
110K + quarterly bonus
Family Nurse Practitioner.
I worked and studied full time. It was tough, but achievable. I recommend it. Now, Part of my focus is investing in the stock market. What I wished I would have done when I was younger.... Invest, read more, wake up earlier, and not have partied as much as I did when I was younger.
>>
armed robbery. money waits for no one go out and get it broke fags.
>>
$157k last year as a PI.

Most of the work comes via insurance companies, law firms and the Church of Scientology.

>>768213939
Wtf in the UK nurses get 20k gbp

Even with multiple degrees and 20 years experience, ability to prescribe etc. it maxes out at 40k gbp
>>
>>768215532
Jesus, that's practically poverty-level. I know a couple of US nurses that specialized in anesthetics, they make almost as much as doctors. It's insane.
>>
>>768215532
It looks like uk is short on nurses because they don;t want to be taken advantage of
>>
I should make at least 100k this year. God damn I love welding.

Enjoy that while you're still working for baby boomers. You'll be replaced when the general populace recognizes a CAT9
>>
>>768216440
>hurr durr I hold the sparkly bit to the shiny bit till it don't shake
You deserve the shit pay you get. Drones will replace all but the most skilled welders when all that's needed is a basic fix.
>>
>>768216440
You say You love welding.
But what about the job is it you like?
Just the fact it looks really cool... or what
>>
>>768216440
I just found this yesterday night. What do you think this welder is doing wrong? Is the profession really dead as he says?

https://youtu.be/4gijdEl6PKI
>>
I make close to 205,000 a year welding
>>
How many of you 100k+ people have a college diploma ?
>>
>>768217109
It that normal pay for a welder.
>>
$105k. Engineering Manager. Best advice I can think of is to plan your career path before you start into it. I've seen too many people go to college for some BS degree only to bitch later in life because that field caps at $50k/yr.
>>
>>768217130
I'm the programmer - yes, I've got a masters.
>>
>>768217243

I hope you program better than you understand statistics.
>>
>>768217223
nope. don't even have an education I am just an artist at what I do.
>>
>>768217223

I make over a $100k welding. Still paying for a useless degree.

Learn the trade, buy your own rig, hit the road. Don’t smoke meth.
>>
Roughly 200k, Sr. Software Eng at a big company. It's cool at first then you're just a slave to the money and the lifestyle.
>>
>>768216440
How did you get into welding and what are the requirements. is it an easy job ? stressing ? what about free time
>>
>>768212793
About 113k last year before taxes.... I sell sextoys and other junk in 2 online shops. To bad eurotard tax takes almost half of it
>>
>>768217796

Want:

>easy job
>stress free
>free time

Good luck breaking $100k
>>
>>768217613
This guy gets it. There are two types of welders. One is a guy who is good at it, knows what he's doing, and does a good job. The other is a guy who's welding because he did time for raping a thirteen year old while high on smack.

It seems insane for a guy with a hot stick of metal can earn that much, but it's something that's needed often and if you're good and reliable, people will call you rather than buy a bunch of gear and set their hair on fire.
>>
>>768217782
..I'm pretty sure that's all of us with any job just a shittier budget or bigger budget, we are all slaves for money.
>>
>>768215532

Damn. That's like a McD's salary.
>>
>>768215532

Likely has to do with GB's health system.
>>
>>768217371
Over 99% of all six-figure professionals make over 100k per year.
>>
If any of you need any help with marketing, online work let me know. Your personal workforce and you'll get all the help you need.
And no I don't make near the amount you do. But I am happy with what I do and I help people get richer.
>>
I make 111k. I'm an operations manager for a company that supplies components for various furniture assemblies. I do not have a college degree, I do not have a technical degree. I was simply hired as a warehousing guy and worked my ass off and earned it.
>>
>>768217326
Some of that for sure, but I've seen other people that go into the field they actually studied for but are somehow blown away that it pays shit. It takes 10 minutes to pull salary averages for different careers. Some people can't be bothered to do that, but have no problem borrowing $50k and wasting 4 years in college just to find out the hard way.
>>
I make over $100k per year. I sell my ass to fags at $500a pop and have done some gay porn. Funny thing is I am not gay, it is just a way to make money.
>>
>>768218931
Thats 200 dicks in your ass a year, how is it haveing aids?
>>
I get about £100k basic, 20% bonus and half my salary in shares every year, long term incentive thing - rolling years so can't cash them in immediately. Pretty sweet deal though.

I'm a fucking cloud architect, build computer shit out of clouds.
>>
>>768212978
>very common

confirmed. all my friends are programmers or tech guys. they all make 100k+, even the tech support guys.
>>
>>768217130
no college at all. just worked my ass off to learn programming and algorithms myself.
>>
>>768219315
How did you get the job? All programming jobs near me require at least a bs degree?
>>
>>768219371
I started in tech support and asked all the programmers for advice about what to study, then did that for years, did little automation projects at first. It's pretty easy to advance in the tech industry.
>>
>>768217130

450k a year
Invasive Cardiologist. Parents paid for college, and getting in was easy as the college required just like a 3.5 high school gpa with a couple of AP classes. The college had a 6 year program where I can major in Biology, and get my M.D, also Cardiology was pretty in need when I started working in 2009, so the second I was out of college I got a residency, and the same hospital offered me a job starting at 345k in 2013. After 3 years I got promoted, and after cost of living bonuses as well as extra benefits, I am making 450k.
>>
>>768219371
Getting that first job is the difficult bit, where education might be a deciding factor. After that, most companies will be looking at job history and relevant tech rather than education. Absolutely depends on the industry of course, but if you're working with aws azure etc, understand how to build distributed highly available systems, that's in high demand and pays well. Learn containers, kubernetes. That's going to keep me paid for the next few years

In many cases you dont need much if you can answer questions about a product.

Not all sales is like going out and closing deals.
Inside sales is answering phone calls and emails for a business and helping customers find what the need, pricing it for them and processing orders.
>>
>>768224277
Truth is the big bucks are in outside sales tho. Those guys can make half a mill a year in my business if they can make it rain.

130k no degree, for the love of God please don't listen to the idiots talking about education. It's a destructive path leading straight to debt. Just get on a good IT path and see what certifications are paying the most. Snag an engineering or sales role and you're golden (not hard to do).

>>

Preach it. Just keep expenses low, dollar cost average in, hold primarily index funds and stay in it for the long haul is a recipe for building real wealth.

Also owning some securities is a good idea too, I am pretty agressive though and only own about 10% bonds. Though they are getting more attractive now.

I do invest anon! Not enough yet, but last year after all expenses i got 60%. MUTHAFUCKING 60. Not 3% cd or a fucking gamble on water down index funds and shit.

Buy or build asset. Improve asset. Use or sell asset to get more.

A steel fabrication shop in western canada. We got a new GM a year ago who's fucked our shit up. He laid off half our workforce and got rid of the night shift, and pushes ridiculous deadlines. Works fine by me since I get the cash. I pulled in an extra 5 g last Xmas as a bonus since I never missed a day
>>
>>768225287
This is sort of believable. I've deposited my father-in-law's paychecks in the bank before,(he drives OTR, union) and he must average 2500-2700 take-home for a two week check.
>>
>>768212793

I clear the "six figure" mark probably 3 out of 5 years on average, as a professional poker player.

It's a fun "profession" for a number of reasons, especially when I basically get to decide my own schedule, but it also requires a lot more self-accountability and discipline than many office jobs. If you have a bad week at an standard salaried office job, you might get fired, but you know what you're getting paid. If I have a "bad week", it's likely that I lose money.

You have to be doing something that you can at least tolerate reasonably well, or the money means nothing, because you'll inevitably burn out on it. I love playing cards, and there are still times when I barely want to bother with it.

Also, when you're looking into something, understand that one of the realities of capitalism (whether it's a pro or con) is that people earn what they "cost", not what they're "worth". Always remember that when you're sizing up different fields. I'm a degenerate gambler and contribute very little to society, but people are willing to play with me and pay a collective "cost" of doing so, that allows me to win six figures a year.
>>
>>768226227
