I want to try a new kind of thread

ITT: post cool things you own that you think other anons should know about.

For me it I would let you all know about microtech OTF knives. If you want a quality edc knife these are great if a bit expensive.
>>
>>748201345
What sets them apart exactly? I usually carry around a knife but its one you replace blades in.
>>
>>748201917
Very high quality steel and impeccable fit and finish as a brand.
>>
>>748201917
otf's are a gimick type of thing, microtech is run by a scumbag who steals other peoples knife designs,
Plusall waruntee is invalid if you dissasemble it to clean it etc
steel quality is fine but there are far better options for the price
Impecable fit and finish is arguable at best

>microtech is run by a scumbag who steals other peoples knife designs,
What do I care?

>Plusall waruntee is invalid if you dissasemble it to clean it etc
If you can disassemble it then you don't need warranty. It's not complicated design. The worst that happens is you need a new spring which you can buy online.

>Impecable fit and finish is arguable at best
Greg lightfoot even said that microtechs are as good as it gets until you get into his level of knife.

Well it would be almost all profit. Expenses are very minimal. But it would not be an efficient use of time unless you had a large setup, I think. One shoebox sized plastic tub can make upwards of 80 dried grams in about 1 month if you know what you are doing.

That said, I have never sold any and don't plan on it. I grow way more than I need though so I do give some away whenever I can.

Don't want to turn this into a knife thread, but I have this and love it. It's a nice thick blade, very sturdy. The grip is so aggressive too. That circle notch right under the blade feels excellent in the hand. It's a big pocket knife though, probably illegal in a lot of places but that's not something I worry about. The knifeworks special edition (pic) comes in an excellent steel (m390) and a sweet grip pattern.

I collect antique razors, mostly safety razors. My favorite of my collection is my Stahly model S-6 (Live Blade). It oscillates (vibrates) to "get a closer shave". I think that's just a gimmick but it's still cool.

There's two ways to wear a fedora which won't make you look cringeworthy: you can either dress up or dress down. Anything in between will make you look like an autistic try-hard. When I've posted a picture of myself in a fedora here, most /b/tards have been forced to grudgingly admit that I look pretty good -- because I'm a hobo and dress like a bum. You can go in entirely the opposite direction, of course, and wear an impeccable double-breasted suit, and that will suit a fedora as well, but only if the suit is properly tailored and it doesn't look like you're playing dress-up in your dad's old suit.

I don't care how high quality the metal is, it doesn't cost nearly that much to buy, they're charging 5000% markup on a mediocre blade.

Go with a $20 Gerber or Kershaw people, they use the same quality steel and sharpen your knives for free. This thing is an extremely overpriced piece of garbage. For $500 I can get the same quality steel in a full sized sword. It's absolutely ridiculous.

It's not about the sword dipshit, it's about spending $500 on a piece of shit knife of equal quality to a $20 knife. For $500 you can get something with 20x the amount of the same quality steel, so they're just overcharging for the fuck of it.

Don't get pulled into too much info about different methods and crap you read online. Keep it simple to start with. I would personally recommend investing in a pressure cooker and using rye berries in your jars. They work really well and don't get all mushy and nasty. Colonize the jars, spawn to a 2:1 or so ratio of coco coir and vermiculite in a small plastic tub with a lid. That's the simplest way to get more yield than just cakes and it works just fine.

>>
>>748202813
If you disassemble to clean and the tip breaks later or somthing you're fucked.

Idk who the fuck greg lightfoot is but id much rather buy a spyderco or zt for that kind of money. Only a select few otfs domt have blade play and they're customs. Blade play bothers me. I also find myself cutting things much more often than stabbing, and otfs are not cut out for that. They have shitty lock up side to side and only do good up and down. For that kind of money you should have bought a pm2, or a 0450 or somthing.
But is it neat? Yes
Would you show the boys? Yes
Would you carry in place of a good knife? No.

Also who the fuck needs supersteel in a stabbing knife? Just use 440c and make it hard ffs

That's a horrible argument. Knives made out of meteors are a fucking gimmick, same as Damascus steel. We know exactly which alloys are best for specific applications, meteoric iron is not best at anything other than sounding cool.

Nowhere on this site does it say that they're making their knives out of meteors either, so I don't even know why you'd bring it up.

Some of the crystallization patterns in meteoric iron take millions or billions or years to occur and can't be duplicated on Earth. Artisans with enough skill can work with those patterns to produce knives with unique appearance. And the random inclusion of impurities is part of the charm of meteoric iron. People who by an artisinal knife of meteoric iron are looking for a work of art, not a workaday cutting tool -- and there's nothing wrong with that.

I said 440c not a. 440c is a good budget steel. It is a stabbing knife because it is an otf. The weak forward and back lock makes it bad at everything but stabbing.

I dont need other people telling me what a good knife is, because i understand what makes a knife good, which you obviously dont understand thus you need some fuckin native garbage telling you what knife to buy.

People who support capitalism have no idea what it actually is. They have some kind of vague idea that capitalism means trade. It isn't. In fact, capitalism is designed to be anti-trade, and to promote monopolies.

The basis of capitalism is private and exclusive ownership of the means of production. This means anyone who wants to make a living (ie/ not starve to death) must agree to pay a passive rent to the lucky handful of people who own the means of production. This aggregates wealth into the hands of a tiny number of people. Capitalism was invented as a way of collecting enough money to allow for the creation of capital projects like dams, factories, highways, railroads, and so on. The problem is that capitalism is an immensely oppressive, unfair, exploitative, and ultimately self-destructive way of doing so. There are far better ways of accomplishing such things. For example, as a mutualist, I support the operation of non-profit, community-run banks.

Capitalism should be smashed, since it will ultimately destroy itself anyway, but not before it does enough damage that it may yet destroy all life on the planet by turning it into Venus with runaway greenhouse emissions.

You know how much play my ZT has? 0. IT sits tight with no perceivable play. Same with my PM2. Same with my cold steel, my kershaw, my victorinox, my quartermaster, and my fox. They don't have any play, and are more dependable than that knife could ever dream to be. Your half a mm will turn into a full mm after you have to cut your first seat belt, or literally anything remotely hard to cut. Fuck even my ganzo i bought for $14 has no blade play and i beat the shit out of it.

I'd like an elzetta. Heard they are near indestructable. Really would like an hds rotary though. For everyday use though, I love zebralight.

Mutualism is considered to be RIGHT of centre, you dimwit. It's also a form of anarchism, which means it's diametrically opposed to authoritarian communism. Jesus christ you Randroid idiots are stupid.
