its ok for children to die for you to be able to voice displeasure at the outcome of a democratic election

Fritz the Cat wasn't shit. It was honest to the comics to some extent, though R. Crumb stated that they ruined his character. I may be biased though since I am a fan of Crumb's comics as well as the work of Ralph Bakshi. Harvey Pekar, friend of Crumb, wrote a scathing criticism of Crumb's reaction to the film, basically, "You say it's shit and they ruined your character, yet you accepted 20,000 dollars to let them do it and also allowed them to make a sequel."
Who Framed Roger Rabbit mixes live action and animation.
Kein Platz fur Gerold is also very good, though it is a short film. Yes,

I have a joke for you, maybe you will like it.
A party member in Stalinist Russia is stationed in Siberia. He doesn't want to cause any worry to his friends or family back home so he decides to send them letters. He also knows that any letters he sends will be subject to censure. After thinking for a while he devises a plan: Any letter written in blue ink will be the truth, any letter written in red ink will be lies. After a few weeks he sends his first letter home which reads, "Dearest comrades, I absolutely love it here. The food is great, the theaters play all the best Western films, the women are totally willing and ready to have affairs, plus I am helping the cause. However, the only thing we do not have is red ink."
>>711634584
Sounds kinda like the plot to The Lives of Others
Great movie.
>>711634999
I have never seen it. I'm not up to speed on my contemporary European films.
>>711631287
Makes me sick
>>711635213
It's a movie about a stasi agent tasked to spy on this writer and report if the writer is feeding information to the west, but then he starts to feel bad because the guy has a wife and shit and the plot kinda goes from there.
It's definitely a good movie if you have the time, only available with English subtitles.
>>711635604
I've no problem with subtitles. I've heard Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy was very good as well. I've never been terribly interested in spy movies in general, but have been playing more with the idea of watching some to at least familiarize myself with the genre. If you suggest The Lives of Others, I'll add it to the list of spy movies to watch.
>>711636023
It's not as much of a spy movie as it is a suspense-dense movie, it sorta goes about how things were before the Berlin(Bernie) wall fell
>>711636285
Spy movie, not in the traditional sense, like James Bond and so on. Spy movie in the sense of suits sitting in offices talking with other suits, dialogue heavy slow paced films where the action happens in little rooms and so on.
>>711636521
Ehh I guess. There's very little "Spy" stuff going on, but it happens.
>>711631287

supposed to be the story of the directors life, but told in a sort of mythical themed style as per his normal directing and writing. right now its about his father who plans to kill the president of Chile but is working as a stable boy for presidents horse. he will kill the horse and make the president suffer from heartbreak.
>>711640621
