I spent a couple if weeks in LA and San Fran. It is truly a bizarre place. I have never felt in constant fear of being robbed or being killedm before until I spent some time in the U.S. Getting near run over by a car speed and driving on the wrong side of a road while at a crossing was also an eye opening experience. Going to an internet cafe I even had some guy ask me to make an email for him so he can check an email someone has already sent him (wtf). There are packs of stupid, fat or dangerous people on every street. Its amazing.

pretty much an inaccurate stereotype
sure if you're going to some random low end restaurant in some no name town then you'll get bog standard stuff whereas in say France you'll still get awesome food. then again the US isn't any better in this regard, possibly slightly worse than the UK with the prevalence of shitty franchise operations.
however if you're going to a fairly decent to high end restaurant then a decent % of the world's best are located here, especially in London. Plenty of different types of food from around the world. I've not found any restaurants in continental Europe or North America that serve decent Indian food either whereas there are plenty in London, Birmingham etc..
