Far superior am no capacity is a stretch. Yeah a lot of revolver like to stick with the 5-6 round standard, the true capacity isn't too far off from semi autos when considering similar calibers. They also make polymer frame revolvers bow that are pretty lightweight (mmakot of which are hammerless). Saying semi autos are better for any practical carry is fucking false, it cones down to preference. Also, if you're walking through bear country, I'll take a good big cailber revolver any day over any semi auto pistol. (Including DE .50)

There are tons of 22lr revolvers.
Try lighter/heavier bullets in 9mm and see if you can't find a loading that works for you, failing that try 9x18 or .380, if those are still too much try other calibers.
38spc, 25acp, 32acp, I'm sure there are dozens of others. Just avoid rimfire if you can.
Bear in mind that if it's just going to live at your bedside the frame size shouldn't really be an issue, I'm saying buy a dirty harry sized revolver but if you aren't concealing it it can be whatever size you find comfortable to shoot.

You know, if everybody carried guns, if somebody shot somebody in a public place a chain reaction would happen where nearly everybody would end up shooting eachother. Guns are only safe now because only a small percent of the population in america carries them on them at one time.
But if you do carry a gun you probably don't know what to do if somebody pulls a gun on you. Guess what, you don't reach for your gun. Because they already have their gun pointed at you and they will shot and kill you before you get your gun out anyway. The only way you'd get to use it is if an attacker was pointing their gun at somebody else and you got the jump on them. Or if you managed to lose their attention and pull their gun after they've turned away. If there is more than 1 attacker that won't work because by the time you shoot one guy the other guy will have shot you dead anyways.
Guns suck as a way of dealing with violence and crime. We need to deal with the conditions that are creating criminals and eliminate them so people stop turning to guns and violence as a way of life.

I think a better question would be modern vs classic. I really dont like the matte black look of modern guns, both pistols and revolvers. Metal and wood are so much prettier. For revolvers though, I am not a huge fan of anything that doesnt have a longer barrel. For purely aesthetic reasons it doesnt appeal to me.

That's not always the case, sometimes you only have time to drop 1-3 rounds, like say when being charge by a grizzly. If you're running semi auto it better be something big. I don't know a hunter that uses a semi as a side arm though. Not every self defense situation is the same.

Revolvers came way before semi-auto pistols.
Semi-Auto pistols are designed from the ground up to be better than revolvers.

Don't buy a shitty 200 dollar gun and your jamming problems tend to go right out the window.
Revolvers on the other hand have far less complicated small working parts, so recoil from larger-caliber rounds cause less damage to the firearm's integrity and the open-action style of the cylinder allows revolvers to fire cartoonishly-large calibers.
Many people say "The larger the caliber the better hurr durr" but it's best to carry what you're comfortable shooting.
I prefer semi-autos.
