Pink Floyd is great. Would also say Queen, Zeppelin, Judas Priest, earlier AC/DC among a few others. Rock is dead nowadays, and I would love nothing more than some anon here to prove me wrong.

Zappa is a Giant among men when it comes to musical genius. Nobody has ever and will ever compose the masterpieces he puts together. I'm sure whoever I'm replaying too knows this, but for everybody else, Zappa wrote EVERY SINGLE NOTE for EVERY SINGLE INSTRUMENT that ever made a sound in his music. He is a musical God, with a mind made of gold.

Stay on his dick, it's alright, he is God in a man. And I love the fact that he had to reteach people to play their instruments the way he wrote bc
1. He had to have had extensive experience or just understanding in each instrument.
2. He literally invented a genre of music that to this day, nobody can come close to.
3. Even people like Steve Vai looked up to him like he was cut from a different cloth, bc he was.

This is false, and only the words of someone that doesn't know how to make a band sound great.

Good live audio equipment isn't all that expensive any longer.

They only down side is that newbie engineers aren't learning shit, by using someone elses presets for compressor, EQ and other settings. I think that anyone who is considering getting into live audio engineering, should have to both tech, and run a large analog system first. It gives you a much better understanding of signal flow and how things like compression, and EQs actually work.

I use ernie ball extra or super slinkies (the m-steel and colbalts are worth the price on electrics), they're great for Nirvana songs ( in bloom. Smells like teen spirit, rape me, ect.) Because of all the bends pinch harmonics. Easy to play the bends and power chords on them. Be warned, the tone you'll get from electric strings on an acoustic is best described as "trash", and I think works well for rape me in particular.

What will be the major difference between a basketball court and a cathedral who's inside is made of marble?

Also, the level of difficulty and cost in getting into a cathedral or sound recording studio where you have access to sound engineering equipment, vice simply playing in a live environment?

It is possible to choose a bad environment in the name of purity, such as a dead environment (but then not having sound engineering equipment and a mixer on hand)

Just choose simple if you're by yourself, choose a live environment.. it's easy, it fucking sounds great, and it's why everyone sounds best singing in the shower.

it is possible to try and complicate the shit out of something in the name of perfection, but without having financials to back it up, and still end up sounding like ass.

This band deserves a bigger following, they can be hard to get into but they're currently my favorite band. All of the Acts are great, 4 and 5 especially though.

Don't waste m-steel or colbalts on an acoustic. I personally don't like their unplugged tones, as compared to the basic ernie balls, but their amped tones are great.

Biggest difference, would be the shape. Parallel surfaces are bad. A good cathedral or theater doesn't have parallel surfaces in the design. Even main rooms in recording studios are built similarly.

Singing in the shower is a single source. Try putting drums in a similar environment, then some loud electric guitars, and then try to make sense of the whole thing. It will be a sonic mess.

Want to record your band. Go rent a digital mixer with DAW capability (nearly all today), and a few good mics.

Record your tracks and then return the rentals. You should be able to track in 1 week if you're prepared.

You now have as long as you need to mix your tracks and get them sounding how you want in the DAW software. Also, there are several good free DAWs available.

Spending would be minimal, and you'd have a pretty good recording in the end.

I'll always choose Ghost Reveries and Watershed
over it, but it has some real catchy parts.
