Well, depends on the offence, but it shouldn't be more than a year. There is of course exceptions, but i generally think many offenders should be treated and be handled in other ways. Let them pay, do some community work, or lock them up for a few months. Of course there is examples of people deserving longer prison times, but i do believe prevention and rehabilitating should be first priority.
