Its not terrible, its just not good. I won't get into grading the humor because thats subjective. But there are funny movies out there that people find more funny. Its not even believed to be above par funny by the general viewing public. I like humor, show me oldschool seinfeld or arrested development or Mean Girls or Office Space or fucking space balls, all of which are way funnier. Hell, if you're only looking for puns then Airplane hits that target way better. It didn't do anything interesting from an artistic perspective, and the story issn't exactly groundbreaking. Shawshank alternatively, has depth in character and story, and is presented with Freeman narrating, which is an amazing performance by itself. Plus it makes the audience feel a range of emotions throughout the film. All while delivering a deeper message about how the American Prison system is more prone to institutionalizing people then reforming them. I don't love Shawshank, but in terms of cinematic value to the medium, it is objectively better in every way to Bee movie.
