I think the opposite. If industrial society survives I believe the internet will continue, though I do worry it will become control and censored by people with globalist views. The US or today is not the same US as the founding just as the US after the civil war wasn't the same as before and the same with the great deal. The US as a geopolitical entity might continue, but I think the heart and soul of it died a long time ago.

Short term oil will stay slow until prices rise. They probably will since that industry is constant feast and famine cycles. Even with some new energy technology coming about it would take a long time for society to switch over. Lumber is kinda regional dependent.
A hard crash would bring horrible suffering for a period of time but would also open up space for a better system and bring the remaining population back to understanding the hard realities of life. Right now we have too many people not thinking in a responsible for survival sort of way and they tend to develop views of the world that don't hold up to reality. Hardship would suck, but the survivors would probably appreciate the cost of maintaining a civilization more than people do now.
