I have valuable information that's on an SD card that needs the utmost security. I need to physically hide it, up my ass or swallowing is out the question, how and where to hide it?

I am thinking of hollowing a candle, and then filing it in, what else can I do?
>>
Hide the SD card in a ceiling panel
>>
Hide it inside of a light switch over.
>>
put it in a pack of gum and send it to the bottom of the junk drawer
>>
Hide it in the sole of an old shoe
>>
wall sockets are god tier hidey holes, pull off covering cap and unscrew the fixture to expose the inside of the box. ideally an antenna or Ethernet ported box as no 240v mains.

The latter.
>>

defending against agency == you're kinda fucked, but obvs first step is truecrypt

after that you cant just hide it, you need it embedded somewhere. think inside a wall or sealed below tiles or some shit like that. there's no easy access options that they cant also exploit.

high level encryption using truecrypt with a dummy drive that when you enter the dummy pass it will erase the encryption key. this and what I said earlier is as good as you will get..

On top bar part of blinds

Small slit in any furniture. Like a dark colors couch, bed, chair etc.

Use a hammer to pry any moulding throughout your house up a little bit, tape under it, then hammer back down

plain sight is the best option. this is the way to do it. they'll be searching for things in hidey-holes; so why not hide it plainly? like, get a board game from a starvation army and gently slide the card into the box's packaging or something and just leave the game out on a bookcase

can't you just encrypt it and upload somewhere on the internet?
>>
>>712460348
Compress the contents into an archive.

Apply a secure encryption algorithm to the bytecode of the resulting file.

If your algorithm involves keys, which it should, write them on pieces of paper in some form.

Example suggestion (don't actually use this, since if you did, anyone who's seen this thread would know how to use your keys if they got their hands on them): For each key, try to write a coherent document that could feasibly be something someone would actually write for some innocuous purpose -- example: a grocery list -- but is in fact an acrostic for the ROT13 of the alphabetic base-26 representation of your key. You can then safely keep these personal documents anywhere, because they appear to be nothing more than essays or notes.

I'd probably use a piratebox embedded somewhere in the wall, with zero physical access.

If you're using it with wifi, set it on a timer so that it comes online once a day or so. or else put it on a completely separate circuit so it only gets turned on or off at the breaker.

If you have wired ethernet, patch it into the network, make sure you have the mac address, and use WoL to activate it.

Make sure its set to encrypt everything on the fly and you'd be safe from everything except home demolition
>>
>>712462398
Why not just use an existing text as the secret basis of the key. An acrostic of your favorite bible passage or something.

Make a zip file. Open the zip file with a hex editor. The file in its entirety can be taken as a very large number in base 16. Take it thusly. Convert the resulting number to alphabetic base 26. Find the least-difference pair of factors of the base 26 representation's number of digits. Arrange the base 26 representation into a grid whose dimensions are those factors. Give the grid outlines. Print it out on a very large sheet of paper. Title the document "world's biggest word search."

If that's all it is, it's time for a brain wallet.

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Brainwallet

Use mnemonic techniques to store the entire wallet in your head, and you can use it whenever you need without having to store it anywhere.

The feds can't force you to admit your passwords (or the key to this wallet) according to existing case law. That might change in the next few years with Trump's administration, but you can still just pretend to have forgotten it and they will never be able to prove anything.

plebs.

1) Open a door of your choice.
2) Inside the door, remove the screws for the door hinge from the door jam, fold the hinge out of the way.
3) Cut/drill a hole in the door jam big enough for your object.
4) Insert object, replace hinge and screws.
5) Resume life.

You can also do this into the door itself but most interior doors only have about 2" of solid edge so shit will fall inside the door. Jam is better. SD Card would be fine in the door.

Literally no one would ever find this. Even if a contractor replaced the door/jam they probably would not even notice it.

There are dogs for everything. Dogs can smell for gemstones. It's kind of ridiculous what dogs can smell.

I was watching a training show where they trained dogs to smell the difference between diamonds and zircon. They could then go to an airport and smell gemstones in luggage (smuggling a bunch of loose gem stones).

I'm not sure how you don't go insane if you can smell literally EVERYTHING.

Easy: Safety deposit box with a fake name and prepaid with cash.

anyways, best place to hide is at the bottom of drawers, cut out a space the size of the card, slightly bigger, stuff the disk in, use the top part of the section u cutout to block it, impossible to find..

You should def do the first part OP, regardless of how you hide all the SD cards. You should also number them all, and memorize the number of the SD card with your bitcoins on it so you know how to find it.

i will give you a pro tip, use one of the named hidding spots, or techniques, and buy another 3-4 sds card, place it on a visible place and boom, you're done, don't hide it in something ovious like soap, or personal items, go for really common things that raises no suspicious , i reccomend to cover it with tape, then cover the tape with silicon and stick it under the fridge or the stove

The jam doesn't move? You open and close the door all the time.

Say for instance you have a typical interior door. They're hollow core. So they have a frame of about 1-2" of solid wood then what looks kinda like corrugated cardboard junk with the pressed faces glued to that. There's a bunch of air in there.

If you remove a hinge and drill 2" through the solid piece into the open air and push something in there it's lost. You'll never get it out w/o bashing the door open like a piniata. (Though this might be desirable to you...)

Door jam is at least a 1x nailed to a doubled up 2x4. so you have 5x4" of solid wood 7' long to drill into and stick stuff in. And it never moves.

If you bash up your door and it needs to be replaced, odds are a contractor would just leave the half of the hinge that's on the jam there and put up a new door. The shit on the frame never gets touched. I have interior doors from 1947 in my house...all original as an example. You should hide shit in there for 100 years.

>>
>>712465857
Only half way unless you turn it over and microwave the other side. Be careful though, because the outside could seem cool but the filling can be very hot
>>
>>712465609
Modern data storage is pretty easy to destroy.

It's so physically small that even the old theoretical techniques for espionage level data recovery don't even work on hard drives anymore.

SSDs are even coming with internal encryption just as a means of doing TRIM easily. Punch a hole in the firmware chip on an SSD and your data is most likely completely lost forever.

Not only that, but "solid state" memory does not even have that long of a shelf life. You probably don't even need to get it that hot to erase it. You could probably just microwave a flash drive for 20 seconds and it would be gone for all eternity.
>>
>>712465949

>>
>>712460348
Enroll in a college physics class where lab work is required. Perform an assigned experiment several times on your own to get a feeling for the average difference between experimental values and theoretical values in your dependent variable. Take each individual byte of your data as a number from 0 to 255. Normalize all the bytes into a range of zero plus or minus the average difference computed earlier. Write up a lab report to turn in using one of the experimental data sets, but claim in that report that you're frustrated because you lost the original lab report and had to do the experiment all over again. Then, for your own records, fabricate the "original" lab report by summing each of the expected values for your dependent variable with that value's corresponding normalized byte. Your data now appears to be a lab report. No one will think to examine it, because you've taken measures in error analysis to ensure there's nothing out of the ordinary about it.

>>
>>712466144
Dan't fool yourself. Anything short of physical destruction of the magnetic disks inside the HDD or flash cells inside an SSD can still contain data. Just do the easiest thing you can, and smash open with a hammer. Then smash the platters or flash cells into dust with said hammer. Don't go for the "easy" way of microwaving it. Also you can damage your microwave doing that.
>>
>>712466414
Ok, but should I wear an oven mitten?

>>712466628
when taking it out, yes. Or leave it in the box for like 30 minutes.

You could fucking implant it into your skin if you really needed to. Buy a dog and put it under his skin, shit.

Or like build something and hide it inside during the build process, so the only way to retrieve it is to destroy the object. Pottery or some shit.
>>
Go to a web archive and download an older version of truecrypt and make an encrypted unmounted storage drive as a file on any storage device. They cannot compel you to unlock it and even if they could it doesn't look like a drive and provides plausible deniability. Hiding physical drives looks worse for you from a law perspective.

Walk over to the cat's litter box, then proceed to dig through it, locate any clumps that you can find, and slowly eat them. As you eat them, think about what will be the best location to hide the micro SD card.
>>
Has anyone thought that this could actually be the government trying to figure out the best places to look? Think about it. I know this is a common thing, but what if they had already searched the guys ass and body and found nothing, and now they are trying to find it in his house and cant find it looking in the obvious places. So what better place to get answers than /b/

No. Microwaves work by exciting water particles in your food.
There is no water in a flash drive so nothing would happen.

open a drawer and then tape it to the underside of the roof of the drawer area.

Put it in a small non-SD shaped metal box and hide it inside some electronics. Microwave, refrigerator, telephone etc. Even if somebody is looking through walls they wont be able to tell what it is if you put it in a decent spot

the government has been searching people for 240 years , they are not going to learn anything new here.
>>
Get a skunk, and gently suck on its butt until it sprays into your mouth. Savor the fluids as you reach enlightenment, and ultimate understanding as to where the best place to hide the card.
>>
>>712460348
Op, if you have the time, i would suggest finding a random corner in your house, and taking the outside corner trim off, and putting the card inside the corner and replacing the trim. As well as that, buy a new SD WITH CASH, and put random shit on it, like some really fucking weird fetish porn that you don't want people to know about, as well as starting to "watch" that type of porn on a regular basis so it isn't randomly there, and hide it somewhere like earlier posts said, in a wall socket or something like that, if its in too obvious of a place then they will continue searching. If you do this, they will find the fake eventually and then see whatever you put on there (fetish porn would be best). Warning: if you do this you will have to repaint all of your walls in that room, it doesn't matter how close the new paint is to the rest of the wall in that area, or if you're using the same paint from the last time painting, if you only paint over the trim, it will be noticeable. Don't hire a professional either, do it all yourself if you can, or get a really close friend to do it.

Do what wikileaks did. Encrypt it. Upload it. Torrent it. Give a Dead Man's Trigger to certain (or many) people.

You won't be able to hide anything from a determined adversary. Better to put the information out there. If you just need to release the information, that's easy.

If you seek to sell information, that game might be beyond you if you are asking for advice here.

Most of these Are too obvious. Something outside the box is what you need. Tape it underneath a taco bell table

This. But instead, on the the of a table, separate the rubber cover and the table, and put the sd in between the two. Find a table that is bolted to the floor for this

Here's how you use truecrypt and still protect yourself against the alphabet soup agencies. Lock that shit tight. Print the password and hide good. As if was CP. Now make a text file and have it say truecrypt pw in bedside drawer. Now when they ask you for the pw you say you're upset and don't remember. When they look for the paper they won't find it because of course it's not there. Act all indignant blaming them for losing the pw and your progress on your novel. When they press insist you can't remember the pw and it was not where you expected it to be. What the fuck can they do to you for forgetting?

send it to space. get the most powerful model rocket engines you can get. tape or attach them all together in a bundle so that way the forces combined can get to space. put your micro sd card in a tupperware container and tape (maybe even super glue) it to the bundle. set those rockets off and watch that baby scream out of the atmosphere. who the heck would be able to find it then? once the heat is off of your back just go get your card and listen to the sweet bitcoins tinging against each other like music to your ears.
