if you find out where he lives you could do some social engineering. plant a cheap usb stick in his driveway, and load it with a keylogger and some malware. you can get his online info, gain remote access to his computer and access to a microphone if he has one installed or if he uses a laptop. if you have his online info then you can get his cellphone carrier data, contact list, etc. his supplier will be on that list.
if he grows his own then robbing him will be easy. do it at a time where he's routinely out of the house. triple check for any security devices like a nannycam. wear a mask, crouch a bit to conceal your height, use throwaway clothes and especially shoes.

Some dealers likely still do this, lots use shit like bitcoin, because while the value of bitcoin can fluctuate it's much safer to hide your money online, or in some cases, buy gift cards with the bitcoins so that they can still use the money in lots of places without leaving any sort of paper trail or keeping the money on them so that if they get caught the cops can immediately seize it all.
