I train my plant under a screen so I can maximize yield. This way I have pretty much uniform size buds as opposed to a few large buds and a bunch of popcorn buds.

I wish I still had the diagram picture I made to show how I train my plants under a screen. Basically I end up cutting off probably about 70% of the plants bud sites over time so that the plants energy is directed to the remaining 30% and I have decent buds. I also tron TONS of leaves off over time. Part of this is to combat mold that can grow when leaves are pressed together in tight spaces but after flowering starts I try to cut off all full sized leaves that block light from reaching bud.

I should also say that the way I do things is specifically geared towards my grow method. If you're growing outside then your plants do not need any training at all. This is because the whole plant will get almost equal light as the sun moves across the sky. But for indoor growers with stationary grow lights you must train for efficiency.

Neat little setup but I hope you didn't buy that think pre-made because if so you likely paid way more than you needed to.
