Fuckin A, I had my brakes fail on my old T-bird once because the shoe wore out and they went straight to the floor, ~30% stopping power.

This was in a shithole town in New Mexico. Guy was probably on meth. I ended up replacing the lugs with some long-ass ARP lugs and some long aluminum lug nuts.
What is that on OP ? I seen em smooth but not like that with fins, probably for cooling, may tear up pads.
>>711573842
ive seen cars run REALLY thin and have the first wall flake away as im pulling the rotor but never this bad. Im not even sure if this is real myself but this is truly giving me chest pains
>>711573390
what the fuck are you talking about nigger? Compressors fill a tank and then shut off you can't run an impact off a compressor alone.
>>711572081
Now THAT is some dumb motherfucker.
>>711573932
Aluminum lugs *cries* hes gonna tighten them for 15 min and wonder why its not keeping his wheel on
Oh i get it now they wore the disc out on one side...
>>711573989
The only other scenario I can think of is some frail old person who brakes seventy miles behind traffic, never breaks 45 mph, and has been running the same car since '86. Even then, most old people at least give a shit about regular maintenance... maybe drugs? but then they'd have crashed by now?
This is seriously confusing the shit out of me.
>>711574072
The compressor fills the tank to whatever you fucking set it to newfag. I didnt realize i had to mention that his tank was holding the pressure. I always refer to my compressor/tank as one unit called the compressor considering that the tank is just a useless pile of shit without its compressor. niggernewfag
>>711574134

>>711574134
>>711574443
That's why I take the wheels off myself now and torque them by hand when I put them back on. I throw the wheels in the back of my truck, make note of which wheel came off which corner, have them balanced at a shop with a good balancer, then put 'em back on myself.
>>711574855
That reminds me.... my Focus's brakes are getting dodgy >.> The occasional squeal, nothing bad, but it's still pretty new.
How much do you know about motorcycle brakes and floating rotors?
>>711574072
From an outsider's point of view it seems like he is referring to the compressor/tank system as one object, since they basically are.
As you said, you can't do the thing without the tank, however you can't fill the tank without the compressor, so...I wouldn't call it the tank/compressor because that's a mouthful, but "tank" can isn't specific enough to describe this object so "compressor" that is understood to have a tank built in would be the appropriate word to use.

This is a brake rotor. These are the cooling fins that are supposed to be inside the rotor, which should have been replaced thousands of miles ago
>>711575448
haha no, that was an awful segue.
I have a 2014 repsol cbr250rr; just had it serviced for it's 5k miles. Front brakes were clicking occasionally when stopping, was advised that's normal for floating rotors. Now it's been shuddering a tiny bit on ~1/100 stops. Probably going to take it back in, but just wondering how common that is.

I can tell you're not a mechanic, because a mechanic would have called it pneumatic.
Also the majority of pneumatic tools run off 90psi, and the law of diminishing returns means even at a high pressure that no compressor could maintain like 150psi, you're not getting a whole lot more power than at 90psi.

info for anons who don't want to die because brakes: Pump your brakes furiously if they give up, the piston will pinch the rotor eventually affording you some additional stopping power. That is if you don't run out of brake fluid because you didn't keep the rezivoure full.
>>711576986

>>711580046
Lol also had to slam brakes from 70-0 on the highway. Well I'd never replaced the rotor so the front right cracked. When I got to where I was going I looked and the rotor had cracked effectively shaving the brake pads as I braked. Last year of the G body.
It landed the cross member on the jack, was hell to get it up and back on the trailer as the sun was setting and the snow was falling.
Destroyed a coolant hose but other than that not really much damage. Esprit stronk, trashed the tail gate.

Lol wat?
I had a shitload of pictures from when my dad bought a Westfalia that had been parked for 3 years because one of the cylinder had no compression. Pulled out the engine and dismantled it just to realize that one of the cylinder got so hot it ate through the head gasket and through the block itself.
Every cylinder was rusted it was the firs ttime I had seen rust INSIDE a cylinder.
All I have left is this brake pad I pulled out of a friend's caliper in comparison with the new brake pad I had to install.

Now lets compare this to the lung of a car that hasn't smoked

Fucking this. Worked in the IS dept of a printing plant for 3 years, we had computers integrated into the consoles of production cabinets, the fabrication and repair shop, and the recieving dept. All ended up somewhat like this after about 6 months, and we had a chart of every PC that would need to be cleaned.
We never let them get quite this bad, as a production line going down was costing the company $125,000/hour. Gravure for the win.
>>711577584
reminds me of this guy that used to bring his computer in to my shop from time to time. He thought he knew computers. This looks like something he would do.
>>711573756
Wow. Actual old-school transistors!.
>>711583302
Probably too old for any school to want them.
>>711582884
half the disc has fucked off , not sure how its possible but it has and given the marks the tards driven with it this way , whats most impressive is the length of the pots in the caliper
>>711583104
In tech school I worked in the machine shop and had to drill through the IT departments hdds because you can't recycle them without destroying the actual disks first. some legal bullshit I think.
>>711577584
You can't get it cooler than that. Scookum as frigg!
>>711579587
You have zero insertion force?
How do you anon a mom without the insertion forces? Do you rekt.!?

Someone put cocaine in their rig to make it run faster.
>>711584576
Just dump some coke on it, it'll clear that corrosion up real quick!
>>711583104
they are destroying them intentionally so people dont steal them
Did about 10 years as an ASE tech, while working in a brake and chassis shop, a woman brought in a Nissan that had run over a downed highway light pole at around 60.
Now i wish I had pics, it was maybe 1k of repair cost below being totalled.
From transmission to tire, the entire front end had to be rebuilt.
Another woman curbed her biturbo Audi, and the tire shop sent it to us with mismatched size tires and wheels. The awd system and chassis loved that.
People are largely and dangerously ignorant when it comes to such potentially dangerous machines.

as a mechanic I've seen this happen numerous times

Nope, he made a custom cable to run his case fans which melted and set fire to a foam filter.

Finish your quest then get on that.
Also checked.

Buff that disgusting hub you nasty fuck
Usually the rotor being half eaten through [one side only is worn through] is caused by the caliper slides sticking or the piston sticking /not retracting when the brake is released
>>711585011
Pull the power of the engine ^^
>>711585011
cut the fuel lines. its just rubber hoses on the tank.

diesels don't use sparks the fuel is too volatile
>>711579114
We have a
....considering the brake caliper piston retracts both as a function of the hydraulic system and the piston seal flexing, and the pisspoor care most folks give their vehicles, that kinda shit happens all the time.
>>711585011
I'm always surprised at how long these engines can run in these conditions before seizing.
>>711573626
So that's the inside of a rotor? Jesus fucking....
>>711575778
That's what you get for building a PC with Bulldozer and Fermi
>>711585470
Uh what, diesel fuel is more difficult to combust than just about any other fuel. You can throw a match into diesel and it won't ignite. Also it most certainly does use spark plugs to ignite diesel, but it has to be under significantly more pressure than regular combustion engines.
>>711585470
That's almost right.
Diesels use the diesel effect. Warm fuel air mix will spontaneously ignite when compressed.
>>711584576
lol Schneider quality!
> bought cooling tower
> it has a Siemens Inverter
> it's got all covers on it, can't even tighten the screws (just in case)
> the whole inverter burns down because two terminals on it wasn't screwed on tight enough
lol.
>>711579262
This usually happens from not driving the vehicle far enough each day for it to reach temp and evaporate the moisture inside the engine
>>711585345
>>711585347
Diesel runaway can happen with blown turbo oil seals. Engine consumes the engine oil until dry and rekt.
This is the only sure way>>711585440
>>711585687
....which is why they have glow plugs and manifold heaters. .. and are a bitch to start when cold
>>711585640
Diesels don't have spark plugs you idiot.
It is less volatile than gasoline, correct, but if you turn it into a mist you can light it with a match.
Diesels do have glowplugs which heat up to help with combustion in cold starts.
Diesels ignite by compression alone.

>>711585573
well you can start up a WWII tank engine even if it had no maintenance whatsoever in 10 minutes.
some former tank driver guy in my country started up a t34 that was supposedly unusable.
>>711585640
wrong.
i drive semis for a living. it has a glow plug, but that just warms the chamber. it uses pressure to ignite. no spark.
>>711584839
oh jesus fuck nutting christ.
my roommate had an AWD legacy running mismatched size tires
Trying to explain to an idiot why that is bad was the most irritating thing possible
>>711581035
spider gear, should b two...regardless that trashed the whole pumpkin
>>711585640
Most Diesel engines don't function with spark plugs. They function with a system of ignition through compression. When the diesel is compressed, it heats to the point of ignition.
>>711580367
An entire side of the brake disc was worn down to the vented inner structures.
>>711581215
caliper froze in place
>>711585640
Nope. They use pressure to achieve combustion.
