Oh the tuners may need to be redone depending on model, but lower level shit will always have cheap worthless tuners get proper ones and redo that wiring as well don't bother with vintage caps and shit means nothing to your tone. YOUR AMP / preamp is the best place to look for tone not the guitar. Just make sure it's set up and plays well and if anyone tries to sell you on different shit find a different teacher or inspiration. Otherwise they are either selling you short on your ability or trying to pawn off exotic tone wood and expensive lessons you can learn from jewtube.
