But muh popular vote!!!

Liberals are such a joke, The electoral college started out so that New York, at the time, did not decide every election. You have to campaign for everybody. With the electoral college the 50% of the people who live in 90% of the US have a say, If we went by popular vote both Trump and Hillary would be in NYC, California, Texas. No one would give two shits about "New Hampshire", I mean who even knows what a New Hampshire is?

Hillary Clinton pandered to California liberals, "We're gonna put coal miners out of business" is precisely why there is an electoral college. You have to campaign for everybody, not just what a bunch of people in one state or city want.

And also. Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by 200k!!!! Except.. No.. She didn't. No she fucking didn't. 92% of the vote is counted. The popular vote could still go to Donald Trump. And because of the electoral college a conservative from California, New York, Massachusetts, are way more likely to vote 3rd party or not vote at all. So let's ignore all the evidence of voter fraud released in the O'Keefe videos and Podestas emails.

Also, If the election was about who won more votes, The entire campaign of both parties would be entirely different. Democrats would run totally different alien campaigns as would the Republicans. Their entire party views and ideas would be different. The race would have been ran totally differently and I'm not saying Trump would win in that situation. But you don't know that Hillary would either.

Liberals, Stop rioting, get a job and accept DEMOCRACY. Honestly, When Trump says I'll let you know if I accept the results you cry WHAT A LOSER!!! LOL, Now however.. You're rioting, crying, your hollywood liberal leaders you're addicted to are telling you to rise up and fight the corrupt system.

Liberals are the worst people in the world.

Irrelevant where people live. If more than 1/2 the population wants something. It's a majority. Fuck the minority.
>>
>>711236198
"POTUS", not "PO the People of TUS"
>>
>>711236353
But the problem with that is Hillary can get away with saying we're gonna put coal miners out of business. Now however, the coal miners have a say about that. And regardless, As I said but you refuse to read into, The election would be ran entirely differently if it was a race for the most votes. Conservatives in New York know their vote doesn't matter, you have no idea how the vote would have gone in a popular vote wins scenario.
>>
>>711236931
Popular vote should win. Majority Rules has always been the case throughout history. Being held back because a minority wants something different is fucking stupid.

Correction, communities back then (and some now even) tended to base their decisions upon local popular opinion. If you get enough people in an area rallying for a cause, passer-by's would say "Hey what's going on?"
"You haven't heard? <stereotypical political figurehead> is running for President! She's going to be the FIRST female president and wants to shower us with everything we could possibly want for the LGBT community, All races, and All walks of life! She's going to be great!"
"Oh, wow, I had no idea. Can I join?"
The power of the masses has clearly been a force in the past and even now. The real problem is that people don't use critical thinking and question everything before making a blind decision.
>>
>>711237221
>The real problem is that people don't use critical thinking and question everything before making a blind decision.
That's obvious or Trump wouldn't have won. As someone not from the US, Trump winning is hilarious as it makes the US look stupid as fuck. However his stance on Climate Change, and Vaccines IS something that can fuck me.

How much TV do you watch? If not regularly, how much during the past 18 months (the elections)?
>>
>>711237523
>>711237617
And by "TV" I mean all media, social, newspapers, magazines and even word of mouth since the majority of people get their informational sources from biased publications.
>>
>>711237617
I watched the election coverage quite thoroughly. TV shows, not much. A couple shows here and there.
>>
>>711237705
I know CNN, Fox, etc are all biased. But a lot of the stuff comes DIRECTLY from Trumps mouth. Or his 3 AM rants on Twitter.
>>
>>711236931
but you do understand that coal miners will soon be out of a job anyway eventually, right?
>>
>>711236353
"Fuck the minority"
Yeah basically, hillary had almost no voter turnout from the black and latino demographic
and her "half the population" is everyone from New York, California, and the 3 beaner counties on the dick end of FL
This is how a representative democracy voting system works, and btw we're a republic, not a TRUE democracy
>>
>>711236198
So what you are saying is the value of a rural vote has more value than that of an urban vote? All men are created equal my ass...

The electoral college was created to ensure that slave holding and non-slave holding states held equal representation. That is all. Check out this map here and you will see the R states in general have much more vote power than the D states. For example, each electoral vote in New York represents 519k people while each one in Wyoming represents 143k people. Therefore, people in Wyoming have a vote worth 3.6 times that of a New Yorker. There is no scenario where that is fair.

No, we don't have one presidential election, we have 50 elections for president. In each state that Trump won, the majority DID vote for Trump. fuck your national majority, it means shit because each state is different

one of the likely reasonings trump was voted in was to dissolve civil unrest from the ever rising anti-government , nationalistic, prejudice, ignorant, hateful and angered groups of masses. it is very unfortunate this had to be the result from realitively steadfast/intelligent leadership for the past 8 years despite the relentless efforts of others, nevertheless we shall see what will truly be accomplished. Too bad a lot of you retards don't realize we don't live in a 'democracy.' We live in a democratic republic. The huge population states already get their population advantage via the house of reps.

>>
>>711238735
Because apparently white people are the only evil people in the world and you can say whatever you want about them because it's somehow justified because they're evil? But apparently liberals want people to stop being judged based solely on the color of their skin?

It's obvious if you listen to a brainwashed SJW for five minutes that white people are the scum of the earth, and the irony in saying that is so utterly palpable that they don't even realize that a white person named Bill Gates made the computer company that made the computer that they now bitch at him and other white people for.

Wrong. It's not representative democracy if your interests aren't being represented. California doesn't have West Virginia's interests in mind when it votes for a candidate.
>>
>>711238881
See, based on the media, I'm sure she comes off as a "savior to all minorities". But the stacks of emails I've read from Wikileaks makes her dishonest with very questionable ties to organizations and bizzare practices. These are written by her, from here without the expectation of the media sanitizing her words. Same with Trump and his Twitter feed, but all I got from that is that he has a short fuse and tries to defend himself against accusations by being an asshole. Granted, that is not a stand-up person, but at least he's not in conversations with people that want to sacrifice a fucking chicken in their back yard to the ancient demonic god, Molach.

>why isn't Bernie considered a Racist with everything that came out of his mouth

Such as? The fuck are you trying to accomplish here?
>>
>>711239020
OP here, And no I do not, However I also don't think the liberal cities should get to shit all over the religious, Not saying this would ever happen but as an example, If the cities wanted to take away their religious rights well tough luck evangelicals. I am not a Republican, I did want Trump over Hillary but I despise Trump.

But regardless of any of this, Let's pretend we all agree the electoral college is bullshit. So what? The popular vote isn't a true reflection of the popular vote anyways. I for example did not vote for Trump despite wanting him to win because I live in a super left wing state. Had I lived in Pa, Or Florida, Or even Ohio which was always red leaning I'd have voted for Trump. And many others would too. And many others would have voted Hillary.

The point of this post is to point out that. Saying Hillary won the popular vote means nothing. And BTW, She didn't even win it yet. She could still lose it

But getting rid of the electoral college would just change the way the president is elected. It wouldn't allow a majority of the populace to automatically shit on the rest of the people. It would just let the majority decide the president. Congress would still be more locally decided and be able to keep the majority elected president in check.

Moreover, regardless of the results of this election, I'm still in favor of eliminating the electoral college. It's an antiquated object that has outlived its usefulness.

And you're quite right that the election results might've been quite different if it was popular vote majority take all. Trump might've still won that, but it'd be a better system than the current electoral college.

Even better yet, I'd like to see first past the post voting replaced with a better system, but that'll probably never happen in the US.

Mt. St. Helens in 1980 and Mt. Pinatubo in 1991, actually lead to short-term global cooling, not warming, as sulfur dioxide (SO2), ash and other particles in the air and stratosphere reflect some solar energy instead of letting it into Earth’s atmosphere.

So naturally, CO2 emissions is on a steady incline leading to an increase in Global Warming. On top of that, the world’s volcanoes, both on land and undersea, generate about 200 million tons of CO2 annually, while our automotive and industrial activities cause some 24 billion tons of CO2 emissions every year worldwide.

The most democratic thing would be to first dissolve the country into many individual countries each one no bigger then what's now called a district and give every single one a parliament which is 1% of the districts population (for NY and other heavily populated areas, cap it at 5000, for low populated areas make a minimum of 200). The parliaments are not choosen by election, instead everybody who's willing to do the job can sign up and then it's drawn randomly by lot.

Honestly, that was my point, climate change happens regardless of whatever "parasitic" life inhabits it. The entire reason why we have seasons is based on the perfectly irregular tilt of the Earth's axis.

*any* process that moves away from the principle of 1 man 1 vote has a diminishing effect on the power of voters. Whether its seats reserved for minorities or women, or block voting or voting by districts (like the electoral college). The fact is, that obama bum rushed the ACA through Congress without a single republican vote, without the majority of democrats even reading it, and with special stipulations like federal control over all student loans (which increases the cost of college dramatically so that liberals can get dumb liberal degrees, and make it so that student debt accounts for 1/3 of the US governments assets), oh and congressmen and women are exempt from the obamacare fines and fees. Meanwhile people out in the middle of nowhere who more than likely didn't even have healthcare now were forced to pay several hundreds of dollars a month to a system that they perceive gives them no benefit. The fact is, the coastal states that want their universal healthcare and ridiculous minimum wages can still do that WITH THEIR STATE POWERS. Liberal policies should never be mandated throughout the US. Obama dug his own grave by ramming this down the common American's throat. He will go down as the worst, but coolest President in history.

No, with states rights you inbred cuck liberals that contribute nothing to the world but words can have what you want with your state and local legislatures. What you're talking about wanting here is a monarchy with an all powerful federal government mandating edicts on everyone. When that monarchy shifts and betrays you (the hillary train) which inevitably that's what happens in socialist, highly centralized countries, you'll be crying for food and freedoms.

You definitely have a different definition of fair. Are people living in cities not people? Are they not as American as anyone else? People in the country have no idea of the challenges associated with urban living yet they get more of a say in our affairs. The rural areas are also the true welfare areas of our country receiving way more tax dollars then they pay in. Everything from highway dollars to farm subsidies favor the welfare counties of rural america.

OK Redneck, listen up because here's why you're wrong.

The electoral college forces votes to come down to a select number of swing states like Florida and Ohio.

States like California or Texas which are certain to vote red or blblue can be safely ignored while minority voters, like Democrats in Texas, effectively have no vote.

There is a better way though, representation. Personally I favor the PR-STV system.

We can get rid of the electoral college of we implement ranked choice voting (RCV). This allows third party candidates a chance and destroys the corrupt duopoly joke of "representative democracy" we have now.

"Ranked choice voting (RCV) makes democracy more fair and functional. It works in a variety of contexts. It is a simple change that can have a big impact.

With ranked choice voting, voters can rank as many candidates as they want in order of choice. Candidates do best when they attract a strong core of first-choice support while also reaching out for second and even third choices. When used as an "instant runoff" to elect a single candidate like a mayor or a governor, RCV helps elect a candidate that better reflects the support of a majority of voters. When used as a form of fair representation voting to elect more than one candidate like a city council, state legislature or even Congress, RCV helps to more fairly represent the full spectrum of voters."

> If what you're saying is true and that more money goes out to the country, then isn't it good they want you to not pay for them anymore?

They don't know they are welfare junkies though. Every time people bring up infrastructure in cities (transit, health care, etc.), you hear the echo chamber of retards complaining about their tax dollars going to the cities. They have absolutely no concept that the cities overwhelmingly pay for infrastructure in the country. If we went towards fair distribution of dollars (1 for 1), the country would be a third world hellhole. Urbanists and liberals don't have a problem spending more on infrastructure poor areas because it is for the greater good and we see the benefit, we would just like the freedom to do as we please.
