Bought my girlfriend a .22 rifle just waiting for the 10 day clearance. Now I want to get her a handgun she can have fun shooting and not feel scared of.

Comiefornia

I feel ya, I'm personally from Wyoming but I chased the money here. Could have made $50K oil field in Wyoming or $95K desk job in California. Easy choice when your M16 is unregistered.
>>
>>709394749
I actually let her shoot my guns one day visiting Vegas and she had a ton of fun and likes to go shooting when I get time off. Her brother always liked guns but never let her touch his so she's always had an interest. Life's not always black and white friend, it's complex.
>>
>>709394792
Enjoy your new laws preventing you from buying ammo. Worst state to own a gun in aside from NY.
>>
A double action only .38 revolver would be safe and simple to use if she is th panicky type.
If she is really in to it and willing to practice and learn, go with a Glock 19 or 26 are both easy shooting 9mm and great for concealed carry.
>>
>>709394945
Not him but my wife likes them too. Got her a beretta bobcat for Mother's Day. Tryna scrounge up the money for a decent AR before hilldawg bans them and the price triples. Then I'll have just about everything I could need. Not everything I want tho.
>>
>>709395065
You'll need a background check to buy ammo if the law passes. Not a huge issue because I've never broke the law (or been caught) but it pisses me off because that's an extra $30 but I'm wondering if it'll be a sort of 2 year pass like a safety certificate.
>>
>>709395134
You should see the prices of AK's here in California. The cut off to buy them is January 1st so everyone's looking in the $2K+. It's a little irresponsible to sell them though because if we don't get rid of brown here were going to have to hand them right back.
>>
>>709394347

Why the fuck would you waste your money on anything chambered in .22LR?! Unless you are only ever going to use it for target practice, a metal bat would be a better weapon, especially for the price.

I hope that shit jams on you. Every. Time.
>>
>>709395356
Aren't they also making you wait 30 days between ammo purchases?
>>
>>709395498
They're actually pretty great on not jamming. And yes that's all she's going to be using it for. It's for fun; not for hunting or protection. You gotta relax friend.
>>
>>709395356
It's just an Overton window to get you closer to a complete ban.
It sucks because all of the good law abiding folks will heed the laws. In the meantime, it will be biz as usual for the criminal element.

I just picked up a Sig p238. It's a great concealed carry, and it's a relatively small round, so good for beginners. I sometimes carry a G19, but it's too bulky. .380 is good compromise, because not that much smaller than a 9mm, and will do what you need it to do: protect you. Otherwise, if you're serious, a Beretta 92FS. I bought that, it has SO little kick because it's a full size and very heavy. Or, my ex, who is about 5' and maybe 100 lbs. on a bad day, loves a Ruger GP100 6" barrel. Use .38 special, but because it is so heavy there is no kick to fuck with small shooters.
>>
>>709394347

>>
>>709395628
No no, gov brown is sure once they see the law the criminals will pout like swiper from dora the explorer and crime will go away. No way if you're not black can you just pass the border without an issue with a ton of cheap ammo. Even just casings and heads, because there's no limit on powder.

>>
>>709395622

Lol, I'm guessing you never owned one before then. Worst cartridge in existence, by far. I wont even bother with it at the range because it's too much of a hassle to clear a jammed or unfired round every other time I pull the trigger.

And before you go jumping to conclusions, everything is clean and working properly. It is a serious design flaw of the cartridge itself, which anyone who has fired more than 100 rounds can tell you.
>>
>>709394347
Try a S&W 500. I heard it's a very good starting handgun. Absolutely nothing could go wrong.
>>
>>709395729

Actually, my 1911 is my least favorite of my handguns. Is still a lot of fun to shoot, and far more reliable than any .22 I've ever laid hands on.

Also, if you remember nothing else about guns for beginners, remember this: NOTHING NEATS A RUGER 10/22 FOR .22. I cannot stress this enough. Ruger 10/22 is the standard for .22 rifles. If you need a good stock for adjustability and accessories, try the TapCo Intrafuse. Has 6 point AR-style adjustable stock, and picatinny rails for mounting. Looks ugly, but works beautifully.

Congrats fellow Cali-fag.

haha, that's nothing. My mom bought her first gun the month she moved down there. She asked how long she had to wait, they said "20 minutes." Found out she had to go get her state license and then come back, but once she did, it was just that, 20 mins. Also, no concealed permit needed, she just walked around with a hammerless .38 in her purse whenever she wanted.

California has a 10 day waiting period on all firearms. They process the background checks, you also now have to have a safety hand gun certificate and you have to pass a safety certificate before purchasing each weapon. Test costs $20 to complete.

The problem with our Concealed Carry permit is that all you have to do is walk in, give your info, sign that you haven't committed any violent crimes, felonies, or have any orders of protection against you, give your fingerprints, and wait 30 days and pay $50, $55 for laminated. I didn't even have to prove any firearms knowledge or cleaning, practical skills, and because I have it, I can now buy handguns same day. I love it, and I know I'm not gonna do anything stupid enough to lose my guns, but I KNOW plenty of idiots who have gotten our states CCP are NOT responsible enough to have one, and would NOT pass a basic knowledge/competency test for firearms.

Its not too bad to be honest fam's. Its ten days, gives me time to stock up on parts, ammo and to watch enough youtube videos to be excited. The test parts I hated at first, but if cant remember to put a fucking lock on your gun then maybe you shouldnt have one. The only few things I think suck in Cali is the bullet buttons that...are really no point in having and the handgun roster that you can only buy from. You can only buy handguns that are on this list http://certguns.doj.ca.gov/ and it shrinks more and more

That's still a pain. But you gotta do what you can.

I picked up a new M&P Shield 9mm a few months ago. Walked into to the gun store, filled out forms, waited for background check (NICS), walked out with new gun. Took maybe 20-25 minutes.

If I had my CCL back then I wouldn't have had to wait for the NICS check.
>>
>>709399087
lol my EDC CC is b& in Kommiefornistan. Glock 43. I think I heard somewhere that it's because it started being manufactured after a certain date and it doesn't have a serialized firing pin. Lol 6+1 cap and my G22 with a larger caliber and capacity is just fine. Liberal logic at its best.
>>
>>709399454
>>709399581
That sounds really good.

Now, keep in mind California is a heavily populated state and a very large diverse percentage of different kinds of people (niggers n spics for the lamen) I personally have all the handguns I want and dont see myself wanting any more. There was one time that I wanted a surplus russian pistol on aimsurplus but it wasnt on the list so I couldnt buy it. Only one more firearm on my list and thats the M1 Garand, other than that I think im done. I have a small armory in my home

>>709399790

Not him but while this is 100% true most stereotypes have their roots in facts. And that works both ways. But I do agree. We should hold ourselves to a higher standard. The elitists want a race war, they're sitting back and loving this, while they work on taking everyone's guns and doing all the sketchy behind the scenes shit they please, we're all screaming niggers this and spics that. Pinning the races against each other as the media builds the tension day by day, what a perfect guise for them.
>>
>>709400257
Look, I agree, but as soon as we set that standard, who sets the standard of what is "acceptable amount of knowledge" on the subject? I get why they say the same about my CCP, so it's kind of just a frustrating issue, but I hate it no less. I hate how easily corruptable or just plain stupid people who get on thos regulation councils can be. How many people on the council for acceptable gun knowledge will have never fired a gun in their lfe? Have never even seen one fired? Talked to a rangemaster who has seen shit go wrong?

In the same vein, how many on that council of what is acceptable political knowledge will have always voted for the same party every time without even CONSIDERING what the other side had to say? How many will either be right wing nutjobs or liberal faggots? How many will believe that Christianity should rule the world, and how many will think that Obama was the greatest president ever?

>>709402464

You clearly don't know what you're talking about, again, please go be stupid somewhere else. It has nothing to do with who keeps it "control" of it, the person who purchased it is simply the owner.

"If a firearm is purchased as a gift, the transaction is not a straw purchase, and the person buying the gift is considered the end user. Straw purchases in lawful sales made outside of federally regulated dealerships are not subject to such rules and are legal unless the gun is used in a crime with the prior knowledge of the straw purchaser."
>>
>>709402665
Washington state. You have to buy and sign for the gun yourself. Also, for private sales now, we have a new law that says you gotta do background checks. You can hand someone the money in front of a DEA agent in this state and that would be legal, but they gotta pay and sign for the gun. That's how it works,
>>
>>709401142
I was never accusing you of anything man, I wasn't talking about anybody in particular, I was mearly adding to the viewpoint the the anon I responded to had, so take it easy. Everyone has the right to believe and say whatever they want, i wasn't trying to stop that, just sharing my opinion of how stupid a lot of the racism is these days. Also you do know what retarded means right? Like the definition of the word retard? It means slow. When I call a person retarded I'm not saying they have down syndrome or a mental health handicap, but that they're are mentally slow and inept.

Also when it comes to those statistics it's a lot more complex than numbers man, there's socio-economic and cultural factors in play as well. But you're right, the numbers say what the numbers say, I'm not disagreeing with that. I was more referring to the edgy teen racism on /b/, not the pointing out very well documented facts posts.

Not absolutely sure, but I think if you buy the gun with your own money, and then give it away as a gift, it's not considered a straw purchase.

If someone gives you money to buy the gun for them, then it's a straw purchase.

Otherwise my dad could be convicted of a straw purchase for the shotgun he bought me for Christmas when I was 13.

I agree; somethings wrong there man. In cali you can buy from a private seller but you still have to go through an FFL for a background. That should be nationwide
>>
>>709402707
Trying now, just fucking slow comp today. Fuck.

Shit I gotta clean up the coffee I spit out
>>
>>709403388
I should. More money for guns.
>>
>>709403468
No. and to elaborate you're not going to stop what you're targeting with that kind of legislation.
>>
>>709404214
...what harm comes from everyone getting a background check when a new firearm is purchased?
>>
>>709402902
Also a WAfag.
I heard about this shitty law.
So, if I want to sell any of my guns to private people as a private person now I have to act like a dealer and force them to give me their background check, or I have to do it myself somehow?
I've got some guns I want to sell and I just want to know how big of a pain in the ass this will be for me? Do I also have to send in a record of the sale to some state agency? If so, a criminal I will be, and I will only sell to other criminals like myself.
>>
>>709404475
The fact that the only people doing it are the ones you don't have to worry about. The people who are going to do crime or harm others with a gun care not for your superfluous regulations. They will get one regardless. And the same is to be said for the existing criminals. They won't even fool with a gun store. They'll just go hit up Tyrone the crackhead who just happens to have a gun to sell and an itch to scratch that makes that $500 handgun now worth $50.
>>
>>709395498
Another one of these faggots that think .22lrs don't hurt.
>>
>>709404757
Thats a fair point
>>
>>709404687
You gotta be or go through an FFL dealer. I know a guy who was a bailbondsman who needed guns for protection because of the shady people he gave bonds to, and they also gave him guns as collateral, so he needed his FFL to sell them, and he can do his own BG checks. Otherwise, I gotta go through the guns store down the street to sell to a private individaul, and it's $50. Some places will rip you off, but the fair going rate is $50 around here. But I am in Western, so I don't know if you're an eastern or western.
>>
>>709404757
Even non-criminals will be turned into criminals with some of this poorly thought out legislation floating around.
Case in point: >>709404687
So pass all the draconian laws you want.
No fucks will be given that day.
>>
>>709404757
I hate to admit this, as I love my guns, but it's not true/ We had an incident here in wsashington just about a month ago. Kid went to Cabela's, bought an AR, had never fired one in his life, went to a house in Mukilteo, read teh manual, learned to fire the gun, and killed I think four or 5 people.
>>
>>709405175
The only thing remotely close to this here in GA is buying online. It has to be shipped to an FFL and legally transferred to you. Full 4473 and the whole 9 yards. But it's typically $20. $10 if you have a carry permit as it serves as your BG check.
>>
>>709405338
Ok? And how would a background check have stopped that? Everything I said was true and your situation doesn't apply to that argument.
>>
>>709405175
Eastern.
Is it better out here?
I mean duh!
What I mean is are the laws different out here?
I don't want a record of these transactions. Most of my guns are not registered, and some of them are the kind that uninformed libtards are actually terrified of. I don't want to knowingly sell to a criminal element type, but I'm not gonna hang my ass out there as a target either.
>>
I just looked up these new laws Gov Brown signed in for 2018 in Cali. Cant buy any rifles with detachable magazines beginning 2017. So no more AR's, no More AK's or anything like that. I also will have to register my weapons with the Dept Of Justice beginning of 2018 and $20 a fucking pop
>>
>>709405686
That's fucked.

>>
>>709405741
Yeah, holy shit I didnt realize the new laws were that intense. Not only am I gonna spend about $200 to register everything, but I cant buy anything new like the M1 Garand. Online ammo sales will be banned, background checks required for ammo sales
>>
>>709405686
And to that I say I will now become a criminal, thank you and go die in a ditch.
>>
>>709394347
Hand her penis.
Tell her its pocket pistol
>>
All this mayhem because I bought a $400 gun as a gift. What have I done.
>>
>>709405686
Hillary will make laws like this nationwide. In fact, I expect it will be much worse.
>a black market will develop.
Do I sell a bunch of guns now, b4 I accidentally end up in jail, or do I wait for the black market prices?
>>
>>709405964
Yeah, Its either you register or its a felony if you have one and its not registered with the Dept of Justice. It starts 2018; im checking to see if its being fought legally or if its set in stone
>>
>>709406074
That sounds about right. Liberals overreact and have no room for views other than their own.
>>
>>709406101
If it's like the last AWB you can keep and freely sell what you currently own(in GA anyway). That being said during the ban an AR was selling for quadruple what it's worth now. If I had a couple grand I'd buy 3-4 and wait for the next ban and cash in.
>>
>>709406101
Oh, if it's going that way anyway, definitely wait for the black market to develop. I will be selling my AK for like $5000. I only paid $699 and tax (9.5%).
>>
>>709405964
So the background checks for Ammo. Thats prop 63. Be sure to vote against it, most of California is pretty liberal with that; luckily alot of liberals dont vote.
>>
>>709406074
Gun threads on /b/ are always filled with retards. I don't even have to read the thread to know this one is no different.
>>
>>709406235
How were people selling them during the ban? Did semi-safe methods develop?
>>
My recommendation is that you move to a non-shit -tier state where you do not have to wait 10 days to buy a gun.
>>
>>709406403
So, GTFO!
That way there will be one less retard in here.
>>
>>709406387
Then how'd Obama get voted in?
>>
>>709406552
easier said than done man. Its hard to just pick everything up and move to a different state. When your family asks why and you respond with "Because my guns" how does that make you look?

>>709406642
Gov. Brown signed these in. Not Obama
>>
>>709402707
So did you check them out?
>>709405860
Not sure if that is how this site works or not, let me know if you are able to see the pics. Should be 10 guns in all.
>>
>>709406705
No, you said libs don't vote.
>>
>be walking to my car with gf
>big nigger pops out from behind a car
>huge knife
>says if I don't hand over my wallet and her purse we're gonna have a fucking problem
>freak out and tell my gf I'll handle this
>start reaching for my wallet when my gf pulls out a huge ass revolver and tells the nigger to fuck off or die
>dude bolts and gf snickers calling him a pussy
>drove home and she acted like nothing happend
I think I have to break up with her now that she knows I'm worthless as a defender and a man
>>
>>709406910
Man, you gotta marry that shit. She's a catch. I would love to have a woman who can take care of herself. I can't be responsible for someone else, so if they can take care of themselves, that's perfect.

Semi auto pistols with a removable magazine. Check it out in senate bill 880

>>
>>709405860
Noice.
It finally worked for me.
Let's just say you won't be invited to any Democrat parties anytime soon, and Hillary has her eye on you!
Too bad they label everything black and scary looking as an assault weapon except niggers!
>>
>>709394347
/k/ is going to be more helpful than these liberal faggots tbh
>>
>>709408770
Kek!
>>
>>709408770
Well, I gotta go to work, but thank you. Remember, when Hillary makes those illegal, the AK will be for sale for about $5-10,000, depending on what the market gives me. I just gotta find a good place to bury them to sit until the right offer comes, haha. The only thing I use them for is plinking, anyway. My Mossy, my Glock, my Beretta and my Sig are the most important to my safety.
>>
>>709409092
Thanks for sharing, anon.
>>
>>709406473
No. you were just allowed to keep what you already had and sell freely in states that let you. Just new mfgr and new purchases of the qualified arms and accessories were banned.
