It's a windows rounding thing retard, 59.97Hz gets rounded down to 59hz in windows. It's still running at effectively 60hz however.

Fucking moron
>>
>>709271697
what's the point of 144hz?

If you thought this was for gaming you're the retard here.

Who gets 6 cores/32GB 3200MHz DDR4 and 17TB of storage paired with a GTX 960 for gaming?

I'd have spent half as much on my HDDs and CPU and gotten a GTX 1080 or some shit if I cared about that.
>>

>144hz is only for gaming
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

You've clearly never seen one. Desktop work is fucking glorious. Youve never seen a cursor move that smoothly. Using any other machine hurts to look at after using 144hz for so long.
>>

Color accuracy and viewing angles are far more important to me. These use the same IPS panel used in the 25" 1440p dell Ultrasharp.

That's because your phone's heatsink is about the size of a credit card, if that.

To answer your original question, my excuse for not getting 6+ cores is that Intel high core CPUs are to expensive and AMD CPUs are bad right now
>>

I paid the same price i would have paid for a 6700k and Z170 setup, maybe $20-30 premium because X99 boards are pricier, but that's it.

This was before 6800k came out, but the 5820k could be found for under $300 in-store.

Nice, back in those days I was still on AMD, such a huge leap in performance upgrading to the 5820k. In both single core and multicore.

Not gaming and the 10xx series was garbage, just look at the GTX 1070 micron memory mess right now.

I'm waiting for the 11xx series before getting a new GPU, my counter strike already runs at 140fps on ultra settings at 1440p, and that's basically the only game I play.
>>
>>709272503
Not worth an upgrade until the next batch of Intel chips next year

Upgraded GPU to a 1080 though,
>>

>>
>>709272806
To keep steady 60fps with now dips.

Also, I got the GTX 960 because it has the most advanced hardware video encode/decode abilities from the 9xx series.

Even more advanced than the GTX 970 and GTX 980Ti.

It's not only the CPU though remember.

I'm already lacking from this batch of motherbaords.

By the time the next revisions of CPUs come out, the motherboards will well and truly settled on DDR4, M.2 or whatever is coming after it, USB3C etc.
>>

1080 pisses all over the 480. Nothing ATI (sadly) has out can compare.

Currently best card is 1080 (though the Titan XP is faster, it's not worth the amount of cash you pay over the 1080 for the performance gain)

Sure, but unless you need those features you're just paying the ticket price for entry into the cool kids club.

No one is forcing you to run the games at Ultra/high.

With a 5820k, 32GB RAM, and over 700GB of SSD storage available, I'm not too concerned about any of that, my bottleneck is my GPU, and I comfortable with that. I can play pretty much every game out there at 60fps, I just have to turn graphics down in games like Witcher 3 or similar. And I have no problems doing so, doesn't bother me at all as long as i'm at 60fps.

32 GB Ram = overkill unless you actually use it for a RAM disk or PPing images or video editing, or server machine etc

it's fairly slow, it correlates to roughly(you double the number speccy gives you) 1066Mhz DDR3, your CAS timings are decent though at CAS7.

DDR4 will be MUCH faster, starting at around 1066MHz or 2133MHz effective frequency. But the CAS timings are much higher at like CAS 14 or 15.

In the end yours is going to be within 5-10% of even good DDR4, for the most part RAM is RAM.

What's your excuse for having one, you faggot ? What do you use your processor for, what amazingly optimized application that runs on 6 fucking cores could you be running ? Also, what the fuck is a 6-core processor, sounds like when about 8-9 years ago AMD messed up a batch of their quad-core processors, they were shit, so they marketed them as 3 core processors.
>>
>>709274103
Windows uses dynamic RAM allocation, if you have LOTS of RAM available, it uses a ton of RAM, if you don't have all that much RAM available, it uses whatever it needs, and caches things more often.

So even if we had identical processes running, if windows sees I have more installed RAM in my available RAM pool, it will likely allocate larger chunks out, thus using more RAM.

We are talking about real CPUs here.

6c/12t will beat 4c/4t or 4c/8t.
>>
>>709274310

Clearly that game doesn't utilize extra cores very well, or isn't that optimised.
>>
>>709274395
It's obviously not CPU bound at all considering even OCing the CPUs didn't give even a single FPS.
>>
>>709274395
99% of the games work well on 2 cores. Most games are GPU intensive, not CPU intensive. Investing into a costly CPU is waste of money.
>>
>>709274434

Let's rephrase what I was meaning.

All those columns are hitting the same. It's not the CPU. It's topping out at the gcard or memory or something, and if it could use the extra cores from the CPU it would clearly reflect that.
>>
>>709274544

Not if you utilise the CPU.

If you're using it for a server, get a fucking xeon and be done with it. The thread sounds like "why doesn't everyone have an i7 at home" and the answer is really simple - because most people don't need one.
>>
>>709274653

Depends on WHAT kind of i7 you mean too... consumer i7 or extreme i7.

Most people won't need or pay for an extreme.
>>
>>709274653
>get a fucking xeon
and be limited to shit single core performance and a high price tag unless you go for an ES without warranty.

I'd rather get a K series, OC the hell out of it with my $25 OC protection plan, and if it ever does fry, just get a free replacement.

If it survives longer than the warranty, I upgrade to a new machine.
>>
>>709274653

My machine is a server/game machine.

Yes, I need to build a house server/media server and separate the two.

The price of an Xeon that would go on my board is super cheap now. I certainly could go get one :)

An SSD helps with loading times, sure, but it doesn't really provide a boost for performance while the game is running. Sure, okay, maybe a little one with aome games, but it's not a must. 16 gigs of RAM is okay, and it doesn't even need to be the fastest on the market ( bus speed I mean ), again, it's a negligible boost in performance.

Meme resolution that's only good for movies and games, perfect for a teen who tells his mom he's doing homework but is actually jerking it to lolis.

I am either stupid or dont know the meme.
Can anyone explain?

21:9 aspect ratio monitors are referred to as ultrawide.

They're pretty useless for productivity, but look decent for games that support the aspect ratio, and movies.
>>
>>709277740
Oh right i assumed that. But didnt know exactly what it was.

On 4chan, if the peasants can't afford something it's a meme.
>>

Except a nice 40-43" 4k monitor costs more than whatever ultrawide meme you can afford does.

I'd rather have more pixels over a meme aspect ratio.

Seeing is more important than typing. Some people would rather have a wireless keyboard than a stupid mech keyboard. Especially since most people can type reasonably well on either kind.

agree with you there, but seeing myself as a stepmania fag, I look forward to both seeing and typing.
