To make an old looking photograph:
DO NOT ADD NOISE!!! noise comes from a defect in digital cameras. grain on the other hand, is slightly different than noise and should be added tastefully. it's a little bit less "all over the place" than noise, if that makes sense.
add blur, even more around the periphery of the image, where a physical photo would have been grabbed and touched. add slight distortion as if it is not lying perfectly flush with the scanning machine, and maybe try to add a defect or two if you can. slightly lower the contrast and make the image brighter for photos around 1965-1985 era. anything from 1930's or so should be upped brightness and contrast.
