Well, it was always sloppy social commentary by a bunch of upper middle-class libertarians, hidden behind poop jokes. We laughed at the poop jokes when we were young, and maybe even laughed at the social commentary because it was simple enough for us to sort of understand and make it seem "edgy" to like South Park, but now we see how lame their attempts at social commentary are since we're adults.
The only saving grace South Park has is that it won't kowtow to PC standards, but that seems more to do with a juvenile attempt at rebellion against the social order than being based in any artistic conviction.
