I live in Gensokyo but I have made lots of friends from there. One of them have been in similar situations where they snapped under anxiety and stress and stopped showing up to work, and in both cases at different jobs their boss was willing to work with them.
I figure either they lucked out or there must be a reason why a company treads lightly around mental health. Even if there's not, trying to patch things up would be better than just letting it fall apart.
