I think it was supposedly a fluffy methane factory/breeding mill/fertilize plant. They would distill the methane from the fluffy feces and burn it to produce energy. The leftover waste would then be sold as fertilizer.
Essentially, think a fluffy version of the system the robots use in the Matrix but they're not plugged into a virtual reality.

Be a fluffy breeder. No, not the kind that amputates legs and tosses unwanted foals into a meat grinder.
A RESPONSIBLE breeder. A retired veterinarian.
Who actually understands genetics. And more than just coat colors, wings, and horns. You recollect a 1988 study that pointers were genetically more likely to be anxious. You know that dogs bred to be retrievers love water. You know that behavior is at least partially genetic.
"Babbehs comin' mummah! Me feel dah babbehs comin'!" No cries of "BIG POOPIES" here. Your unicorn has done this before and knows the drill.
"You're doing great, Luna. Keep pushing."
You attend her carefully at the birthing tray, carefully wiping away feces, and gently helping her
deliver her infants.
Out comes one blind, chirping, slime-covered infant. She licks it clean. A completely gray male earthie. Shit. Another slides out. A pure black female unicorn. Fuck. Even the mane is black. Oh Well, maybe someone out there will want a Nightmare Moon. Out slides the last one. Hmm. A black male pegasus with a very attractive blue mane, like his mother. Hmm. Maybe he'll

The blind infants nurse at her swollen teats as you clean your mare's hindquarters. You lift her up and place the exhausted mare into her nursing-nest. Its larger than her usual bed, and its more easily cleaned. You place the peeping little foals back onto her teats. And you observe and wait.

The fluffy foals have their eyes open, and have begun to speak. You've named them. The male gray earthie is Overcast. The black female unicorn is Nightmare Moon. The black male pegasus with the blue mane is Moonlight.
Luna is an excellent mother, rotating them on her teats, no insistance on feeding "bestest babbeh" first, as she is well aware that you can provide formula. You wait until the foals are fed and content, and observe as they happily play with toys. The litterbox training has gone relatively well. Luna is an excellent teacher. You note that they have managed to share toys pretty well in the course of their development.
Now for the first experiment. You motion to Luna, who follows you. "Wha..? Wewe mummah goin'?" says Moonlight, fear in his voice. "Your momma and I are leaving the room for a little while. But don't worry, we will be right ba-" There was a tiny *frrpht* as Moonlight shat himself in fear.
"NUUUU! NO TAKE MUMMAH! MOONWITE WUV MUMMAH!" he shrieked hysterically. You sighed, and dabbed up the tiny turd with a paper towel, depositing it in the litterbox. Good thing this room has linoleum floors. "Moonlight. I'm not taking her away forever. Its just for a short while."
Nightmare Moon, who had initially been simply baffled, started to cry, more as a reaction to Moonlight's hysteria than any initial sense of panic.
"NUUUU! NO TAKE MUMMAH! NITEMAWE MOON WUV MUMMAH!" "Yu two awe bein' siwwy. Humin mummah said dey be back." said Overcast. You could have sworn he rolled his eyes at the panic of his siblings. You led Luna out of the room, and watched from the one way glass.
Moonlight continued to shriek and wail, tears pouring down his face. Nightmare Moon also wailed and carried on, but there were no tears. "Sissy. Stop bein' siwwy just cause brudda is bein' siwwy. Mummah comin' back." said Overcast, putting a comforting
arm around her.

You returned to the room, Luna following you. "MUMMAH!" screamed Moonlight, running up to her. Another *frpht* as he shat himself, this time in relief. You shook your head, and wrote down notes.
Log 1: Unweaned 3 minute long seperation.
Moonlight: High Level of Separation Anxiety.
Nightmare Moon: Takes behavioral cues from others, easily influenced.
Overcast: Calm temperment, low anxiety, may be a calming influence on other fluffies.

You continued your training for seperation anxiety, slowly but carefully teaching the foals to not to freak out when left alone for short periods. You slowly acclimatized each one to spending short periods without their mother or human companionship, and eventually, without each other.
Moonlight was the most difficult, but you eventually got him to calm down, although he would always whimper pathetically as you walked out the door and left him alone. It took a LOT of time and patience though. Overcast was easy. He simply hugged the others goodbye, and waved as you all went out the door, and then calmly played with his toys. Nightmare Moon intially would tremble and hyperventilate a bit, but you noticed something interesting.
"Nitemawe Moon, no be siwwy wike Moonwite. Mummah and humin mummah awe comin' back." she would sternly tell herself. "No be siwwy wike Moonwite, Nitemawe Moon. Just pway or gif hugsies to stuffies." she said, in an increasingly confident voice, though it still cracked a little, as she forced herself to play despite her intial distress. She quickly became engrossed in playing and her fear soon vanished.
Now this is interesting. YOU never taught her to say this. She learned it from Overcast. She was learning coping mechanisms. Not from you or Luna, but from her sibling. You'd never seen a foal have any lasting positive influence on another. Usually any influence was negative, in the form of bullying. But fluffy-to-fluffy mentoring? From anyone but the mother? This was unprecedented.
You made careful notes, keeping them on your computer with hidden camera videos that you made of the progress of the foals. Time for a new experiment.
One day, as the fluffies were happily playing, you entered the room, holding a thick, black extension cord. "Wat dat?" inquired Nightmare Moon. "Is sketti?!" asked Moonlight, eagerly.

As soon as you closed the door and began to watch behind the one-way mirror, Moonlight pounced on the extension
cord, giggling as he happily played with the forbidden object. Overcast did a double take. "MOONWITE! HUMIN MUMMAH SAID NO TOUCH!" he barked. "Moonwite nu cawe! Black ting is fun toy!"
Indeed, he seemed to be really enjoying the extension cord. Nightmare Moon seemed interested. She began to tentatively approach Moonlight and the cord, wanting to get in on the fun. Overcast gently pulled her back. "No Nitemawe Moon. No can pway wif ting." Nightmare Moon cast a wistful glance at Moonlight and the cord. "Buh Nitemawe Moon weally wan pway wif ting. Dat wook wike so much fun..."
"Yu hewd humin mummah. No touch ting. Wemembew dat bad fwuffies who no wissen get sowwy box?" Nightmare Moon's brow furrowed as she remembered the last time she had misbehaved. "No wike sowwy box." she mumured. "So no pway wif ting." said Overcast. "You wite. Nitemawe Moon pway wif bwokies instead." she announced, and began to do so. Overcast began to warn Moonlight on the dangers of disobeying humans, and was met with an irritated "Shut dat fwuff up dummeh!" for his troubles, whereupon he resigned himself to playing with a ball.

I mean, I was dubious about the colors at first but this should help breed out some of that brattiness and stubborness that Celestias are known for. You can't even begin to imagine how hard mine was to train, and she was still a lot easier than the other ones were."
The two of you entered the saferoom. "Now Overcast, remember what you've been told. Don't mount her unless she says she wants you to." you reminded your fluffy. "Ovewcast unnastand." You set him down on the floor next to the rainbow-maned alicorn. Overcast gasped.
"You dah pwettiest mawe me evah seen!"
Celestia raised an eyebrow at the little gray earthie.
"Tank you. And hu awe yu?"
"Me Ovewcast!"
"Me Pwincess Cewestia. Me am awicown."

Celestia turned, lifted her tail and presented her genitals to an absolutely delighted Overcast. "Go fo' it, Overcast! Gif speshal huggies!" You and DPP left the room as joyous enfing ensued.

Celestia's foals were an interesting mix. A female unicorn with a black and white striped mane on a very light gray body. Interesting. You named her Helga. A blue roan alicorn male. Hot damn. You named him Roan. A light dapple gray pegasus female with a blue mane. You named her Diana.
"Dese babbehs...dey no fight over milkie pwaces." marvelled Celestia. "Wast babbehs, dey fight even befo' seeing tingies open." "Dese awe gud babbehs! An dey su pwetty too!" beamed Overcast. You and DPP were just as pleased. These may not have been Celestias, but they were marketable. "I knew that Luna carried the roan and dapple genes as well as the alicorn gene, but I honestly wasn't expecting to see all three expressed." you mused with DPP as you shared a coffee in his kitchen. "We hit the jackpot on this one. Hell, we should expand the line and create a new strain entirely." agreed DPP.
The same could not be said of Moonlight, who had been neutered and sold once you finally had him properly trained. At least you were able to sell him for a good amount, even if you weren't able to breed him. And he had certainly been delighted with his new family. When you followed up on them, they reported that Moonlight did still get anxious from time to time, but was otherwise a very well-behaved and affectionate little fluffy.
Nightmare Moon remained with you. She wasn't as superb a specimen as Overcast, but she was still a very tractable creature. Especially once Moonlight was out of the picture. You could see the breeding potential in her. Which is why you had not only allowed her to witness the birth, but to watch how the foals were being raised. She had been understandably disgusted at the blood and fluids, but her amazement at seeing new life had overridden that.
Nightmare Moon cuddled Celestia's peeping pegasus as her siblings nursed.
Ok here's an idea how about some art where the mummuh neglects the poopie babbeh in favor of bestest babbeh so her owner out of anger takes the bestest babbeh kills it and makes a skin suit out of it for poopie babbeh to punish the mummah for being a shitty parent

Overcast addressed his son, frowning. "Why you make nu-happeh cheepy sound? You just had miwkies. You hab huggies. Why yu nu happeh?" "Somefing wong wif babbeh?" said Nightmare Moon, concern in her voice. Overcast took the foal from his sister, and examined it carefully. "Nu see any owies."
He set Roan back down in the nest, and observed his offspring worriedly. The nest was designed to be stainproof, and feces from foals could be wiped away from its smooth, plastic surface easily. Roan continued to cheep in distress, and he lifted his tail, and began to strain. A tiny "hrrrrrgh!" came from him.
Nothing appeared.
The foal dropped to the floor, and began to roll around, now crying in tiny "huu-huu-huus." Overcast ran to the nearby intercom that had been set up in case the fluffies needed help. Overcast was the only one trusted to use it.
"Mummah! Woan nu can make any poopies!"
You walked in, your vetrinary kit already in hand. You had decided to stay at DPP's house during the first 24 hours of the foals lives. One look at the rolling, crying infant, who kept straining to defecate, told you the entire story.
"What's the problem?" said DPP. He seemed irritated, knowing that fluffies can panic over stupid things. "Roan has foal colic.*" you informed him. "What, like a fussy baby?"
"No. It means he can't shit. His first bowel movement is impacted. He needs an enema."

You put him back with his mother and wiped the nest clean. Both Overcast and Nightmare Moon relaxed. It was just as well that Celestia had been too exhausted from birth to wake up.
"Problem solved. You let me know if anything else happens." "Yes mummah." said Overcast with all the conviction of a soldier. "You're sure good at anal stuff." said DPP as the two of you left the room. You chuckled with amusement.
