One word: Ozymandias.
Not only sad, but probably the absolute best episode in the history of american tv series

This. Breaking Bad is a masterpiece
When Mr. Hooper died and the show didn't try to hide it. Fine, I'm fucking old. As a four year old, that episode gave me the ability to understand things about the finality of death and why life is pretty much okay. Parents hide or coddle their kids from that. In one fucking hour.
>>707396176
You know what's sad? The rise and fall of Sesame Street. It got infected with political correctness and went to cable-land to waste its last remaining years :(

Rick and Morty: Season 2 Episode 3 "Auto Erotic Assimilation"
That fucking ending.
Found it sad when Nucky got shot by Jimmy's kid at the end of Boardwalk Empire. Was totally expecting something less tragic and predictable.
And let's not forget Walt's death at the end of Breaking Bad. That whole last 2 episodes were pretty fucking sad.
This whole episode
>>707391348
>>707392984
I was young also when Henry Blake died, that episode made me cry like a baby. The cast of the show wasn't aware of the ending until day of filming and Radars announcement, they had to that point rehearsed a different happier ending.
>>707392320

I just saw that episode today. Deep inside I wanted him to show some feelings for Jesse.
>>707397965
Even worse, those who didn't know when was enough until it became shit.
The ending of Dexter is definitely one of the saddest. For a show that was about a serial killer and every episode filled with murderous death, the ending shouldn't have been so sad. But it was.

This show is such a cheeseball affair. Zach fucking Braff...I mean really. What a chump. The notion that this shitpile of a "comedy" could feign drama for even a second is about the only laughable thing in its sordid history.
Fuck this show and the faggots who watched it.
>>707387676
Without a doubt, the saddest moment in TV history was the Nixon Kennedy debate. It was at that moment the power elite realized that it didn't matter how evil a person was, whoever controls television controls the world.

Last episode of Roseanne. The camera panning away from Dan then panning back to an empty chair because he died. Then finding out the whole last season was nothing more than Roseanne writing to cope with the loss.

Off the top of my head, here are some scenes that are also depressing:
Bojack and Herb's last talk
Bojack on the phone with his mother
Bojack returning the seahorse home
Bojack at the 12 Steps meeting
Bojack filming on set for Ethan Around
The Secratariot interview
All of the episode with Bojack and PC in the resteraunt
Not bad for a show with 36 episodes
>>707387676
This. OP you posted the only scene that I have to change the channel on or skip ahead through. The feels. And the music doesn't help at all.
>>707410955

>>707409372

Speaking of movies that start off on a sad note... The death of his mother is really depressing, and every instance of retro music is referencing it. Then might as well have her (seem to) appear at the end. I think it could have been a lot better with less hamfisted cornball writing. Still pretty good tho.
>>707391348
coming from a CSH (combat support hospital) in afghanistan (the newer 'modern' army version of MASH) this had to be one of the saddest moments I've ever experienced on TV, and the sad part was the significance of this moment never hit me until I rewatched the show after I got home.

The beauty of The Land Before Time in 2016 is that, now that we're on sequel 35, the original has become an obscurity again, and as such has regained its power as a total fucking nuclear bomb of feels for multiple generations. It has the Poltergeist Factor.
On the same token, that fucking episode of Buffy about Joyce's death. It's on the same level as any episode of Twin Peaks directed by Lynch. It is, for better or worse, the one thing Joss Whedon was born to make and an elevation of the medium in the same breath as elevation of the program it featured in.

Bojack Horseman's sad moments don't come from anything uncontrollable (like death) but from Bojack and the rest of the gang making the same mistakes under different coatings. Despite this, the show manages to make Bojack's same mistakes become more serious and serious (s1 - has his best friend die hating him, s2 - almost fucks up the life of a 17yo girl, s3 - indirectly kills his only friend left). Bojack's overall cowardice haunts the show in so many ways, no wonder it got greenlit for s4 immediatly after s3.
Also you could probably have several character studies for the 5 main protagonists and some of the side characters, which adds to the entire motif of self-sabotage the show has.

Oh you didn't you old fag
Not a movie or TV show, but this was such a shock when I first saw it:
https://youtu.be/KQc7o2rm7po
The Starmaker episode, the tears too real.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8h0JzRytcs
Since we're doing movies.
The saddest part is it's an ending where everyone gets what they want.

I don't watch much Rick and Morty. Can someone explain?

Rough.

The episode of Fresh Prince where Will's dad comes back.
>>707420717
I recommend watching it, but if you want to know let me know
>>707398015
Dunno why everyone gets sad over this. Only thing I ever gleaned from it is that fancy shit may be nice once in a while but not all the time.
>could not cope
>cried for days
i dont want to talk about it
>>707413634
;_; Yeah, this is the saddest moment in TV history.

It's on my list of shows to maybe watch someday, but it's a long list and I don't have a lot of spare time. Spoiler it for me, anon.
>>707390418
Indeed. One of the best of all time.
Seriously guys? This shit still gets me and I'm 26.

>>707421868
You're not alone. It's just not my top pick.
>>707422112
Mufasa is legendary. James Earl Jones has a better voice than Morgan Freeman.

Deepest goddamned cut I've seen in a long while.
>>707422056
You mean the Missingno theory?
>>707417677
That one's weird. It's both sad and happy.
Sad because fucking dead.
Happy because it was the right time for him to be fucking dead.
>>707421841
That old man has a relationship with an alien that is a shared conscience, think Borg from star trek, and is co-dependent on her to feel alive. She leaves him and he tries to kill himself but fails because he passes out drunk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7u3KAaU7kFs
still gets me...
>>707422245
JEJ will always be superior. Best voice in the world, bar none.
>>707407914
No man. Good episode, all of them are (except the fucking fly one), but Ozymandias is on another lever
>>707420274
Yeah no that entire movie just made me sad
Cried, bitch tears.
>>707400891
Winrar....
>>707422439
Yeah, that's a good way to look at it. He was a dead man walking for a long time.
>>707422425
Just Cubone's story get me all sad.
What's "the missingno theory"?
