I worked at Best Buy from 2006 to 2012. Arguably, the "golden years" of working for BBY. Back when the focus was "having fun while being the best". My store used to do game nights and all sorts of fun shit every month to keep morale up. And it worked. Our store comped up every single year I worked there. Eventually after completely fucking the staff with their ridiculous "restructuring", nowadays Best Buy is nothing more than a glorified Walmart job. The store I used to work at is now staffed with idiots who don't know shit, and the typical know-it-all neckbeards that smell like BO that don't stand a chance getting hired anywhere else.
The problem is that French fuck Hubert Jolee came in and turned the place into an aggressively numbers driven never ending cycle of hitting unrealistic numbers shit hole. The best part is they expect people to sell their dicks off yet don't pay jack shit to keep employees happy. It's a miracle those cheap fucks even still have the employee discount.

I used to work for geek squad and the only time we would recommend a replacement was for something like a screen or MB issue, because by the time we factored in labor and parts cost it was cheaper to buy a brand new laptop.
As for the not doing most of the work in store, because we were limited by the rules bb operates the geek squad under. Geek Squad (at least at the time I worked there around 2010) is it's own company, they actually provide full services. In store for bb is only for simple repairs (hdd replacements, etc), virus cleanup, and backup of files. Anything else gets shipped out because we never had enough room to do work such as that, and this was at a brand new larger store.
