I can't help but think the clues are around us. Reality itself is the expression of emergent phenomenon, guided by what we call simple mathematical equations. We see them everywhere, including in ourselves.
At the same time, the nature of life is incredibly odd. In our universe, entropy increases over time - unless the process of life is involved. Any aspect of it, from the formation of stars, to the process of evolution, to the nature of language, can be seen as at odds with the entropy of our universe. Those mathematical equations are our solutions to that entropy.
So I think, what might a higher intelligence use an entire universe for, and what might life's purpose be in such a universe?
Sofar my best answer is that there are an infinite number of simulations like ours. Consciousness forms as order forms, and it gives definition to the universe. The data is used for the sake of the reality which contains us. Likewise, that reality is probably contained within another. Some day, our universe may contain another. What this describes to me is infinite knowledge.

I believe there are a few influences, and feminism is not chief among them. We are exposed to man made chemicals that emulate estrogen before we are even born. This is why girls start developing breasts so young now. It's not odd to suppose that it might effect the development of men as well.
