I broke up with my girlfriend and got drunk for like 5 days straight and woke up in the psych ward. I had bite marks all over my arm oozing blood under the bandages where I had apparently tried to bite down to my radial arteries to kill myself.
They pumped me full of sedatives and antipsychotic medication like Haldol. I wandered around the flourescent-lit halls like a ghost, barely eating and mostly waiting for the next medication dose so I could sleep.

I got out and somehow still had my job, the doctor sent a note and the people at work were just happy I was okay and happy to have me back. They didn't know the specifics.
My parents came to visit me. Mom and Dad were obviously distraught.
I'm feeling better now, they put me on a combination of Abilify and Celexa which actually seems to be working. Been sober for awhile now too.

It's not feeling sad. Depression is a psychiatric condition that causes an absence of emotion, it's not an emotional state in and of itself, it causes one among a litany of other symptoms. And that one isn't even anything like what you're describing as "feeling depressed" there, i.e. being sad.
A person with depression actually can't feel sad. They can't feel anything. Mostly they'll be feeling exhausted. Sleeping most the day probably.

In 9th grade we got into a stupid argument and she stopped texting me.
