I liked wizard knight too. Long sun/short sun are a bit more convoluted in some ways and harder to get into, but make a better story imo - short sun in particular. Just expresses a sadness that really resonates with me for some reason.

I like the idea of the dresden files, but the way the author keeps stacking stakes on top of already ridiculous stakes always makes the conclusions feel so damn anticlimactic. It's like if the main villain was a giant mechanised godzilla and the protagonist a crippled kid in a wheelchair and he wins by peeing himself so the men robot gets short-circuited. Every ending is like "Wtf?REALLY?!"

I mean, the teachers at this charter school had smaller classes and really cared about teaching, I mean more so than your average teacher - because the students weren't there because they had to be, they were actually there because they wanted to be, this was their last chance - they could just leave if they wanted to. Ive had teachers that just didnt give a shit - they handed us a packet and basically gave us free reign with little to no instruction. These teachers how ever were invested in the class - I had the best teachers in this one school than I had in any other that I was at before.

You have no idea the shitstorm parents can stir up. If they don't like a teacher, me for example, they can actually go to the school, request all my college transcripts and test scores, my certificates. It may not amount to anything, but it's embarrassing and it looks like I'm a shit teacher.
If they're really wealthy and want to get into it, they'll sue. It's happening right now at a school where I used to teach -- massive lawsuit, 6 teachers, 2 faculty, school board, the city...
