Go with a smaller brand if possible. They are popping up in every city; some make their own boards and some buy from US factories. All are quality wood.

Co-owned the company for about 3 years, but started helping the other co-owner make boards earlier than that.
No matter what happens with street league, Nike's involvement, the olympics, etc, the underground of skateboarding will always live on.
Personally I skate street, with a lot of old school and using-your-hands kinds of tricks thrown in. But I appreciate good skating of any kind, longboarding included.

Lynch is an insane park. Early weekday mornings is the best time to go, when it isn't quite so crowded. They still haven't put in the lights they promised though.
Boston skating is a lot of crusty ass spots, especially after the 2015 winter. Check out Somerville DIY Skatepark Org, there are a few great DIY spots around the city
